Innerspec is a manufacturer of Non-Destructive Testing solutions using our own proprietary technology. Our products include integrated systems for manufacturing plants and portable solutions for in-service applications. Innerspec pioneered commercial applications of Electro Magnetic Acoustic Transducers (EMAT) in the mid-90s becoming the world leader in this technology with hundreds of systems installed worldwide. More recently, we have added other techniques to our portfolio to serve our customers with all their advanced non-destructive testing needs. Innerspec is headquartered in Forest, Virginia (USA) with an unmatched team of researchers, development engineers, customer support specialists and technicians dedicated to designing and supporting our products and services. Our offices in the United States, Europe, Mexico, China, and Bahrain along with representatives around the globe provide commercial and technical support with factory-trained personnel.

    Extruded tubes are often produced as blanks that will undergo one or more stages of cold drawing. To guarantee the quality of the final product, it is essential that the blanks meet the required specifications. Traditionally, these measurements are taken manually with calipers at discrete points near the tube ends, in a labor-intensive process that doesn’t leave an electronic record, has low accuracy, and is prone to human error. This paper discusses the development and implementation of an automated ultrasonic measurement system for tubes using Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers (EMAT). The final system provides a complete map of the tube's shape (thickness, eccentricity, ovality) and can trigger an alarm when any value is out of specification.     RONDO RT is a fully automated Phased Array UT (PAUT) inspection system for inline inspection of tubes and round bars ranging from 6mm to 65mm OD. Typical Inspection speeds up to 20m/min. The system provides fast and reliable 100% volumetric inspections with real-time visualization of UT scans. The simultaneous rotation and traversing of the product through the inspection cell require fewer inspection elements due to no mechanical movement inside the inspection tank, increasing the mechanical and UT component's lifetime. RONDO CP is a fully automated Phased Array UT (PAUT) inspection system for inline inspection of bars ranging from 10mm to 250mm OD. The system provides fast and reliable 100% volumetric inspections with real-time visualization of UT scans. The system includes a pass-through immersion tank providing high-quality results at fast inspection speeds. Stationary PAUT probes for each diameter range eliminate mechanical adjustments, reducing variability and increasing inspection homogeneity.     The Wrap-Up Meeting of the STEELAR project was held at Innerspec’s European facilities in Madrid on the 4th of July, 2024, by the consortium partners. During the meeting, the consortium partners reviewed the achieved milestones of the project and laid the groundwork for the use of the system in different manufacturing and inspection environments. The STEELAR project has been funded by the European Commission under the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) Programme, aiming to develop and validate an innovative non-destructive solution based on ultrasonic EMAT technology to measure residual stress levels on steel components, providing decision-aiding information to manufacturers.
