Today CCO Rupert Stebbings and COO Jhon Luna took the next important step towards Alma Air bringing the majesty of seaplanes back to Colombia after decades of absence. Alma today presented to Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia at a public audience in Bogota and first and foremost everyone at Alma would like to thank all of the executive at Aerocivil. Not just for their valuable time today but also over recent weeks and months as they worked with ourselves in an articulated way to bring this audience to fruition. At the same time we have been working with both Aerocivil & Dirección General Marítima - Dimar towards the first seaplane regulation in Colombia history. It is vital that such a watershed moment is accompanied by transparency and respect for all aspects of the environment. We also extend that gratitude to the Governors of Bolivar, Magdalena and La Guajira as well as the Mayoral offices of Cartagena, Mompox, Magangue & Santa Marta who delivered letters of support. But those letters were just a few of the 30+ we delivered to Aerocivil. From the top tourist agencies such as Galavanta | Colombia Tailored Travel & Abercrombie & Kent to hotels such as AURA HOTEL BARU Hotel Las Américas & Las Islas we thank you. We also thank important entities such as PROCOLOMBIA , Invest in Cartagena y Bolívar, Cartagena de Indias Convention & Visitors Bureau Bureau Santa Marta Cotelco Capitulo Cartagena y Bolívar & Grupo Argos for the same strong support - not to mention patience and learning offered. There are so many more and even more on the way as we continue to travel Colombia in search of new destinations - each meeting appears to bring a new idea or mystic place we need to visit. This is just the start of the journey but we are honoured at Alma to be accepted by all of the aforementioned as the first serious proposal for the return of seaplane travel to Colombia. We hope to see you all soon in some remote corner of Colombia that few have visited and most didn't know existed. dec ryan Michael Lynch Brian Mulvihill Natalia Laverde Matthieu Le Nouaille Francisco Javier Lalinde Pulido M Susana Mantilla Alfonso Plana Boden Alcaldia de Cartagena de Indias Alcaldía De Santa Cruz De Mompós Gobernación del Atlántico Gobernación de Bolívar Alcaldía de Santa Marta D.T.C.H. Our deepest thanks to all at Tropic Ocean Airways for sharing their valuable time with Alma Air COO Jhon Luna allowing him to literally take a look under the hood. He eventually found the anchor as well ! Good business is about humility and seeking the best partners to learn from. As we move forward with Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia and Dirección General Marítima - Dimar we are constantly increasing our understanding of seaplanes and all they will offer to Colombia and it's spectacular destinations in the very near future. Is is a plane or is it a boat ? Soon enough Colombians will be able to judge for themselves. dec ryan Rupert Stebbings Francisco Javier Lalinde Pulido Matthieu Le Nouaille Michael Lynch Brian Mulvihill

CCO Rupert Stebbings was at Olaya Herrara today visiting and sharing ideas with our friends at Volar Colombia, our thanks for your time.
19 years in Colombia, a beguiling and frustrating country of opportunity. .A truly independent voice, in no-one's pocket. Here to help & advise, even if the truth isn't what you want to hear. Leadership can't be studied.
My thanks to Carlos Londoño and all at Volar Colombia for a look around their wonderful facilities in Medellin. Helicopters, planes and the pilot school with around 200 students. At Alma Air we are constantly seeking new friendships within the airline sector and Volar seem a fine choice. * It may look like I was on the forecourt picking a small plane for myself - looks can be very deceptive.*

I recently had the opportunity to visit our good friends at Tropic Ocean Airways and medivac is an important part of their offering. At Alma Air we too have air ambulance services firmly on the radar as we go forward. We have already held discussions with healthcare providers, clinics and hospitals, both private and public, and quite clearly Colombia is a country full of inaccessible locations. But as a country with 2 extensive coastlines, 20,000 of rivers and 3000 lakes, the arrival of seaplanes will bring many currently isolated communities closer to healthcare facilities that are currently dangerously distant. #Healthcare #Community #Seaplanes #AirAmbulance #Medivac

As Alma Air moves forward in Colombia it is important to highlight the role of multiple authorities in the process. We are currently, alongside our legal team at CMC awaiting the latest comments from Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia as we move towards a public audience which begins the countdown clock to our launch. However, Alma is much more than a plain vanilla airline, with seaplanes comes more responsibility and oversight, all of which we embrace. We are working in parallel with Dirección General Marítima - Dimar towards coastal water regulation and making 100% sure that all stakeholders are fully informed, educated and comfortable when that first Alma plane touches the water. Beyond Aerocivil and Dimar there are the inland water authorities which regulate rivers, lakes and lagoons, we have already met with Cardique & CSB and there will be more to follow. There is an explosion of new seaplane companies and services appearing around the world and crucial in this development are the environmental responsibilities. At Alma Air we too will be working as closely as possible with the authorities to make sure each destination, be it coastline, lake or river, is fully protected. To this end we visited Tropic Ocean Airways last week to understand in ever more detail the steps required for these wonderous planes to operate in perfect harmony with the environment. #seaplanes #environment Jhon Luna Alfonso Plana Boden Rupert Stebbings dec ryan Brian Mulvihill Michael Lynch

The mystical town of Mompox was the home of Alma Air for the week as Chief Commercial Officer Rupert Stebbings attended the Cotelco Capitulo Cartagena y Bolívar symposium in the town. The idea of Colteco is to build close connections with its Bolivar cities and towns, accordingly both the Governor of the state and Mayor of Mompox were in attendance. The tourism ambitions for Cartagena, Mompox and the rest of Bolivar are extensive. There were workshops for the local hotels which Importantly included the support of Fundación Renacer who are helped fight the scourge of the sexual exploitation of minors by tourists, something that Mompox, unlike other cities, has avoided, and long may it remain that way. The ongoing challenge is connectivity and Alma Air is here to help in that regard. It is refreshing to feel the strength of support for our project from a broad church of stakeholders including Cotelco Capitulo Cartagena y Bolívar, Fundación Renacer Alcaldía De Santa Cruz De Mompós Gobernación de Bolívar ANDI - Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia Cartagena de Indias Convention and Visitor Bureau CICAVB Hotel Corales de Indias Hotel Casa San Agustín AURA HOTEL BARU Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena Hotel Quadrifolio We look forward to seeing you all again as we continue our journey to support an increasingly robust tourist sector which aims to improve not only the number of people enjoying the wonderful country of Colombia, but also the quality of those tourists. This comes by improving the offering and experiences as we move forward. #NewExperiences #Cartagena #Mompox #Bolivar #FlyAlma #Seaplanes

At Alma Air we are all about connectivity and hopefully the airport at Magangue will be soon be active once again.
19 years in Colombia, a beguiling and frustrating country of opportunity. .A truly independent voice, in no-one's pocket. Here to help & advise, even if the truth isn't what you want to hear. Leadership can't be studied.
In my short time with Alma Air I have already found myself at some unexpected places and this week was another case in point. The city of Magangue is warm at the best of times and a shady spot is always to be recommended. That didn't quite jive with Tuesday's plan to visit the local airport where I found myself stood on over 1 kilometre of sizzling tarmac. In a country where connectivity is such an issue it is a sad sight to see an airport once visited by avianca & LANSA, disappearing under the tumbleweed. This is an airport with such a long history that records of the first flight have been lost in time. There are fortunately plans to reactivate the airport with the support of the Gobernación de Bolívar in order to improve the lives of the 130,000 souls in their plans to travel. Perhaps the biggest travesty is that 99% of the investment in such airports is already completed, it is no more than cosmetics to have them working once again. My thanks to Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia & all at the Mayor's office on Magangue. #Magangue #Airports #AlmaAir

Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Rupert Stebbings recently held a converation with elcolombiano.com to discuss the future aspirations of Alma Air - Spanish only but to highlight : 1. The process with Aerocivil is underway 2. Why Colombia ? Looking at the operations in Maldives, Alaska, Caribbean etc - the question is more Why Not Colombia ? It is country of two coastlines, 1000's of lakes and 20,000km of rivers. 3. The initial bases being considered are Cartagena & Barranquilla. 4. There is much to do on the coast, between the multitude of islands, inland locations such as Magangue & Mompox as well as 1000's kilometres of coastline. https://lnkd.in/d6tBqFF2 dec ryan Jhon Luna Brian Mulvihill Natalia Laverde
