World Water Day: A Resource at Risk and Our Responsibility Today🌎💧 Every March 22, we celebrate World Water Day, a moment to think on the importance of this essential resource for life. Today, 2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water, and in the coming decades, water scarcity will become a greater challenge. According to the World Resources Institute (WRI), by 2050, more than 30% of the global population will live in countries experiencing high or extreme water stress. This means that water demand will continue to rise, surpassing the availability of this vital resource, impacting people, food production, and ecosystem balance. At Cartama, we understand this responsibility and implement practices that minimize irrigation system usage in Hass avocado production by taking advantage of Colombia’s abundant rainfall, thanks to its tropical climate. Every action matters in ensuring this resource remains available for future generations. How can you contribute? · Maintain vegetation cover to prevent erosion and conserve soil moisture. · Protect natural water sources near crops with vegetation strips. · Conduct constant soil monitoring to optimize water use. The future depends on the choices we make today. At Cartama, we reaffirm our commitment to the responsible use of this vital resource. #WorldWaterDay #WaterForAll

How do we harness solar energy at Cartama? For Cartama, sustainability is a commitment reflected in every one of our processes. As part of our ongoing effort to reduce environmental impact, we have integrated solar energy into our packing house in Pereira Risaralda. With the installation of 228 solar panels on its roofs, we have significantly reduced our dependence on conventional energy sources, aligning our practices with the higher purposes of our company. This initiative allows us to generate more than 192,000 kWh of clean energy annually, equivalent to the energy consumption of 95 homes, while reducing between 25 and 30 tons of CO2 each year. The adoption of this technology not only helps us optimize our processes and reduce costs but also reflects our commitment to responsible and sustainable agricultural practices. Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond how we manage our crops and extends to our infrastructure, ensuring that every Hass avocado we produce is part of a more sustainable and responsible supply chain. At Cartama, we say yes to actions that lead us to build a greener world.🌎💡🥑 #Sustainability #Quality #AgriculturalIndustry

"Just 15 years ago, Colombia did not export a single container of Hass avocado. Today, the sector represents 1.5% of GDP, generates 70,000 direct jobs and 250,000 indirect jobs in more than 200 municipalities. Thanks to this growth, many young people have found quality employment opportunities in their regions, which has strengthened local development." Ricardo Uribe CEO Cartama🥑

A diet fit for a king 👑 You might have heard the recent news that King Charles III has officially introduced avocado as a regular part of his diet, enjoying precisely one half of the superfruit for his daily lunch as part of a new, healthy approach. It’s no secret that avocados offer a uniquely beneficial nutritional profile, and even half of one can give you a boost in energy, digestion, heart health and blood flow. Nutritionists have even suggested that the avocado’s diverse benefits would make them an ideal candidate for a ‘single-ingredient’ meal, along with other healthy foods like blueberries, edamame beans, and broccoli - although of course a more satisfying, balanced meal is always preferable for your health. Do you know of any other famous avocado ambassadors? We’d love to hear about them in the comments - and how they make our favourite fruit part of their daily diet! #avocado #media #avocadonews #mythbusting

More than 1,200 Tons of Colombian Hass Avocado Head to the Super Bowl, the Largest Sporting Event in the United States Next Sunday, February 9, the 59th edition of the Super Bowl will take place. This iconic sporting event, the most-watched in the United States, attracts millions of viewers worldwide and, for several years, has featured a touch of Colombian flavor. In New Orleans, Louisiana, the 83,000 attendees at the Caesars Superdome, along with millions more across the United States, will have the chance to enjoy the best of our national product: over 1,200 tons of Colombian Hass avocado, exported specifically to enhance this extraordinary event. This variety of avocado is not only in high demand in the lead-up to the Super Bowl but also during and after it, with exports peaking in these weeks. Colombian Hass avocados are expected to arrive in the United States during weeks four, five, and six of the year, ensuring that distributors can make them available to consumers across different states. The United States is the primary market for Colombian Hass avocados, and the Super Bowl has become a cornerstone event in the commercial calendar for exporters. We leverage opportunities like this to promote our Colombian-grown fruit as a symbol of sustainability and to showcase our capacity for consistent production year-round, delivering high-quality avocados 52 weeks a year. #SuperBowl #Avocadosfromcolombia #Sustainability #Quality #AgriculturalIndustry
