about

Sydney jazz outfit COAST return with ‘Live 2023’, an EP which captures the energy, creativity and lush sounds of the band in full flight.

COAST’s work brings to mind the finely textured, progressive jazz of Kneebody, Mark Guiliana Quartet and Donny McCaslin, with a hint of influence from BadBadNotGood’s early material.

On ‘Live 2023’, led by drummer, composer and band-leader Paul Derricott, COAST perform pieces from across their self-titled debut (2018) and subsequent follow up Skim (2019). The performance features some of the Sydney jazz scenes finest musicians: Peter Koopman (guitar), Shannon Stitt (keys), Michael Avgenicos (sax) and Dave Quinn (bass).

The group are gearing up for their third album, expected for release in September 2024 on Art As Catharsis.

Discover why COAST are one of the most exciting acts in Australian contemporary jazz.
