This time, WG Stories presents Marek Tučan, Publishing Producer at Wargaming Prague. A keen amateur historian and gamer, Marek chose Wargaming as it suited his passions, and the company culture let him succeed freely and get to where he wanted to be. Marek proves that you can make your hobby into a career. His WG journey began before he had even stepped into an office, when he heard about World of Tanks as a closed beta game back in 2011. He went from participating in the forums to moderating them, and then, after being encouraged to join the European office in Paris, he landed his first role with the company as WoT Community Coordinator for the Czech Republic. Marek has made the most of Wargaming's core flexibility, transitioning from WoT community roles to become a Project Specialist for World of Warships and then a Publishing Producer. The process has been mutual: Marek showed drive and passion, and the company tuned into his needs, acting as a launchpad to skyrocket his career. Marek has a couple of top tips for anyone working with data and in general: - Excel is your friend, so don't fear it! HTML and XML can be your friends too. - Talk to people from other teams even if they are not directly related to your work. You might learn something or meet someone interesting! Have you turned your passion into your work, or do you want to? Share your story or masterplan in the comments 👇

This edition of #WGStories introduces Vladimir Smirnov, Senior Gameplay Programmer at Wargaming Belgrade. Vladimir ignites passion through the Python programming language, using its surprising pluses to bring an uncommon approach to GameDev.  So how and why does Vladimir use Python in his work on World of Warships? First, he says that it offers great development speed thanks to time saved on rebuilding binaries, its fuss-free environment, and the option to hot-load scripts. And second, not worrying about memory management means developers can focus on global system solutions instead of customizations for every individual task.  Vladimir’s creativity results not just from his expertise, but also the love he has for his work. His job is far from simple, but he has a lot of fun doing it, and big events involving new and exciting game mechanics are always an unforgettable journey.  Vladimir develops not just games, but also himself. His passion largely comes from the chance to improve his skills and invent new solutions or approaches. He says, "Gameplay development is a process that doesn't end, and we try to keep up the pace and develop too."  If you're a Python developer and would like to turn your talents to Wargaming, visit our Careers page and apply for open vacancies!  https://lnkd.in/d77QU7iR

The Wargaming Vilnius Running Club kicked off the back-to-school season this month by participating in "The Color Run," a fun 5-kilometer event aimed at bringing people together and promoting happiness and health. At each kilometer mark, the team were covered in rainbow coloured powders and along the course, they encountered exciting surprises like foam zones, music stations, and more. The excitement around the event even inspired one of our colleagues from the Belgrade office to join the Vilnius crew and fellow running enthusiasts in rising above! They all started the race in white t-shirts and crossed the finish line colorful and smiling, just as the event intended. Check out the photos from the event to catch the positive vibe. 😄
