Selected through the ECO-READY Open Call, the EcoReadyMasuria Living Lab, based in Poland’s Masuria region, is working to advance climate change adaptation for local agricultural systems. Focused on key crops like barley, maize, red clover, sunflower, and milk production, EcoReadyMasuria is shaping the future of food security in this region renowned for its natural beauty and biodiversity. Data & Knowledge Sharing: EcoReadyMasuria will contribute critical data to the ECO-READY Observatory, enhancing climate resilience monitoring and strengthening collaborative climate action. Farmers & Food Security: The Living Lab will engage Masurian farmers in testing climate adaptation solutions, empowering them to protect both crops and biodiversity while securing rural livelihoods in a changing climate. Policy & Community Engagement: EcoReadyMasuria’s work will provide key policy recommendations and contingency plans, ensuring practical climate adaptation strategies are implemented. Stakeholder involvement, from local farmers to international networks, ensures that solutions are co-created and grounded in real-world needs. By fostering community awareness and driving innovative agricultural solutions, EcoReadyMasuria is contributing to a more resilient and sustainable food system. An observatory for climate change and climate adaptation

ECO-READY is a project that aims to address the complex issue of food security in Europe by providing real-time data and critical insights into the factors that affect food accessibility and the economic protection of producers. It involves the development of an observatory that provides up-to-date information on climate issues for policy, citizens, and the business community through a transparent organization -- the policy Hub. ECO-Ready is a 4-year project which receives funding from the European Union’s HORIZON-CL6-2022 Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement N◦101084201. Views and opinions expressed are those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or any Research Executive Agency, who cannot be held responsible for them. The project headquarter is in Prague and is coordinated by the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The project identifies the weaknesses of current food security monitoring practices and proposes networked databases that translate into "information" or "knowledge" for citizens and policymakers. ECO-READY also seeks to mobilize civil society, including private businesses and consumers, to change production and consumption patterns for climate action and resilience. To achieve this, the project emphasizes the need for reliable and complete information on the sustainability aspects of food and its nutritional value. The project also challenges the current "linear" model of science for policy and proposes a more nuanced understanding of human behaviour based on empirical evidence to improve policy outcomes.

Our partner Confagricoltura hosted a workstation throughout the event and highlighted ECO-Ready in the session titled "From Digitization to Waste Recovery and Diversity: Main Results of Confagricoltura EU Projects on Innovation and Circularity." What an inspiring kickoff to #FoodRevolution2024 we had yesterday! 🎉 Our first day was filled with invaluable insights from great experts tackling today’s pressing food supply challenges. Chris Elliott set the stage with a profound overview that illuminated the complexities we face. We then delved into the world of Precision Fermentation with Cocconcelli Pier Sandro, explored food safety with Ronald Niemeijer, and learned about the critical role of life cycle assessments from Thomas Nemecek. Dr. Paola Giavedoni showcased remarkable examples of collaboration that highlight the power of partnership in the food sector. In the afternoon brought even more thought-provoking discussions, with Dario Fornara shedding light on regenerative organic agriculture and the vital importance of healthy soils. Michele Morgante addressed the opportunities and challenges presented by new genomic technologies, while Annamaria Bevivino introduced innovative microbiome-based solutions. All of this was expertly moderated by Chiara Dall'Asta and Dr. Bert Popping Popping, who facilitated a dynamic debate on the risks and rewards of emerging technologies with our esteemed guests, Elise Bijkerk 🌍 and Helene Schmutzler (she/her). As we gear up for day two, let’s carry forward the momentum and inspiration from yesterday’s sessions. We are thrilled to share that CONCAT Living Lab attended the Fira de Sant Miquel, the premier agricultural fair in the Lleida region—one of Catalonia’s agricultural hubs. The Eco Ready Project was introduced to the visitors at their stand. Their cutting-edge satellite imagery tool that monitors regional agricultural production was also showcased. This tool is now offered to the ECO-READY Observatory for integration, furthering our goal of improving resilience and food security. By collaborating with farmers, policymakers, and other Living Labs in Europe, CONCAT LL is creating innovative solutions for adapting to climate change and protecting vital food systems. Chosen through the ECO-READY Open Call, the AIDEMEC Living Lab, based in Italy’s Basilicata region, is advancing Mediterranean agriculture by harnessing AI and multispectral imaging to detect crop stress early and protect vital crops like tomatoes, wheat, and olives. But AIDEMEC’s impact goes far beyond that! Data & Knowledge Sharing: AIDEMEC will contribute critical data to the ECO-READY Observatory, enhancing climate resilience monitoring systems and fostering collaborative action. Farmers & Rural Livelihoods: Our AI-powered platform helps farmers make informed decisions, safeguarding food production and protecting livelihoods under shifting climate conditions. Food Security & Consumers: Adaptive strategies will ensure a steady supply of staple foods like tomatoes and beans, despite the pressures of climate change. Industry & Policymakers: Improved crop forecasts will aid in processing logistics and help shape policies that bolster resilience in agri-food systems. Scientific Community: AIDEMEC’s AI models and datasets will drive research for climate-smart solutions, setting a new benchmark for Mediterranean agriculture sustainability. L'agricultura de Catalunya encara NO està preparada per mitigar els efectes del canvi climàtic 🌍. La setmana passada el nostre #CONCAT #LivingLab va organitzar un taller de Resiliència i Mitigació al Canvi Climàtic amb més de 20 productors, cooperatives i investigadors del sector agroalimentari de Catalunya. Aquest taller és l’inici de la creació d'una comunitat agroalimentaria catalana per la resistència contra els impactes del canvi climàtic 🤝 . CONCAT LL forma part del projecte Eco-Ready que busca aconseguir una resiliència dinàmica pels sistemes agroalimentaris europeus a partir de donar resposta a aquests reptes derivats del canvi climàtic, millorant la sostenibilitat i biodiversitat, entre altres. Després d'un emotiu discurs sobre la resiliència de l'agricultura catalana de Ramon Sarroca, FCAC, i reflexions interessants de Ayman Moghnieh, Jordi Gené-Mola, Sònia Llorens Cervera i els 5 laboratoris de l'IRTA, els invitats es van dividir en 5 grups (poma, oliva, cereals, pollastre i aqüicultura) on van analitzar: 1) 🌍 Com el canvi climàtic està afectant els seus cultius actualment 2) 🎯Una predicció dels impactes futurs del canvi climàtic 3) 📈La mida de l'impacte i l’esforç de cada estratègia de mitigació Què segueix? -Estem preparant un informe amb els resultats del taller que compartirem amb els participants📊. -Continuarem preparant investigacions i experiments per convertir aquests idees a solucions tangibles🚜.
