Our facade reconstruction for the future Brno Touristic Information TIC BRNO, příspěvková organizace is close to the finish line! Due to the central location and heritage restrictions, both the openings and materialization were done by following the original design of the building while creating a space that invites people in and represents the vibrant character of the city. Tomorrow at 16:00 at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague Founding Partner Alexandra Georgescu will be lecturing at the studio run by Lenka Mikova on ‘The Principles of Creating Inteiror and Furniture’! The class is also opened to public so feel free to stop by!

Today at the Placemaking Brno conference, Tomas Kozelsky, co-founder of KOGAA, will address the power of hyperlocality. He will focus on projects in a specific area that are transforming and revitalizing urban spaces. One example will be the Bratislavská Boulevard project, through which KOGAA seeks to raise awareness on the neglected state of Bratislavská Street, engage the local community, and then propose solutions for its reconstruction.

This week we are traveling to Kragujevac in Serbia on behalf of the conference „Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future“. Kragujevac is the industrial heart of Serbia, with 151 post-industrial objects of which 31 are protected by heritage and we will be presenting our experience in the Adaptive Reuse. We are therefore honored to be invited by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Belgrade to this event. While awating permissions we can get a glimps at the vision for our H E A (R) T Adaptive Reuse project of the previous heat plant into a new center for the arts, gastronomy and workspaces at Nová Zbrojovka!

This year is dedicated to architecture and KOGAA founding partner Viktor Odstrčilík will talk about our approach to brownfield revitalization. Besides that, the program includes a tour of Káznice and a panel discussion on 'Utilization of underused brownfield sites with practical examples', which we are participating in together with ZET9, archipop / Institute of temporary use, Kasárna Karlín and Káznice žije. The event is part of the multi-genre festival Factor K, running from Wednesday to Friday and featuring numerous artists and musicians. We look forward to meet the new faces that will shape the future of Czech Architecture tonight at the Mařena festival. Founding Partner Alexandra Georgescu will be presenting the topic ‘PRACTICING IMPACT’ to the local students of the Faculty of Architecture in Brno.

We are in the European Capital Brussels today at the EU design days with KUMST Brno to talk about the challenges of Adaptive Reuse and the growing of communities. A workshop will be held in the afternoon with other practices from around Europe on ‘Blueprints for societal change’. We thank the ERRIN for having us, the Representation of the South Moravian Region to the EU for the support and JIC - business with a purpose for being a partner in our international activities.

Automatic Mills is an important national monument by Josef Gočár and one of the most pioneering realisations to have taken place on Czech ground in recent years. Several architectural studios have participated in the revitalization of this building, combining their designs into a whole and the expectations of the result have grown. The co-founder of KOGAA, Tomas Kozelsky, reflects this topic in an extensive architectural review in the ERA21 magazine.
