METRANS at the Dragon Boat Race - the power of teamwork and family spirit A sunny Saturday 🌞 and the 18th annual Dragon Boat Race 🚣♂️ for the Mayor's Cup of Kolín drew enthusiastic crowds of competitors and spectators. Our METRANS team entered the race with great determination. For the first time, we joined forces across our branches, and we already believe that next year we’ll have two full teams on the water! On the 1000-meter course, we proudly secured an impressive eighth place 🏅, while in the 200-meter sprint, we finished thirteenth. But our success wasn’t just about racing — we organized a fun program for kids 🎨👨👩👧👦, including a competition where they guessed how many locomotives 🚂 we repaired in METRANS DYKO Kolín. The result? A beautiful exhibition of 48 hand-painted locomotives proving that children's imagination knows no limits 🌟. A huge thanks to all our colleagues who supported us on Kolín Island, including those who travelled from afar. METRANS is one big family 💙, and that was evident on this amazing day of sports 🎉! Rail Summit in Prague: Uniting Forces for a Better Future of Freight Rail Transport! 🌍🚆 We had the honour of being part of an extraordinary event, and not only that, we co-hosted it – the Rail Summit in Prague! Together with experts from across Europe, we discussed how we can bring more innovation to freight rail transport and improve infrastructure. 💡 As METRANS, we are proud to have co-hosted the summit and were thrilled to witness many inspiring conversations and new ideas. One of the key topics of the summit was innovation in freight rail transport. Europe moves massive volumes of goods, but to do even more, it’s crucial that policymakers and infrastructure managers support the right innovations as soon as possible. 🚆 ❕ During the discussions, concerns were raised about two major projects in recent years: DAC (Digital Automatic Coupler) and ETCS (European Train Control System). Rather than focusing on their original aims—improving European interoperability, expanding capacity, and enhancing safety—these initiatives have become slowed down by high implementation costs. Summit participants agreed that it’s crucial to reconsider how these systems are actually helping us meet our key goals. ✨ At the close of the summit, our CEO, Peter KISS emphasized the importance of collaboration: “This gathering of European freight rail associations is not the last – only together can we achieve even more.” 🌟 We placed a strong emphasis on improving collaboration across Europe to ensure freight rail remains a competitive choice for the future. 🚗 Revolutionizing rail transport with car carrier containers on rails 🚗 💥 Big news! Our Car Carrier Containers (CCC) are now officially on track! After months of rigorous testing and collaboration, we’re thrilled to announce that these innovative containers are ready to transform the way vehicles are transported. 🚀 It all started back in February when our METRANS Dunajská Streda terminal welcomed the first prototypes of these game-changing containers. Partnering with SSC RAILTEC GMBH we put these giants through their paces in a series of loading tests in Celje, Slovenia. 🛠️ Built from reinforced steel, each CCC can effortlessly carry cars weighing up to 4.2 tonnes and is cleverly designed to adjust to different heights. Plus, when empty, they can be stacked – three containers high! Talk about efficiency. 🚆 But here’s where it gets really exciting: These containers aren’t just tough – they’re smart. Car manufacturers can now load their vehicles directly onto our intermodal units and send them off by road or rail, knowing their valuable cargo is safe. With reachstackers or gantry cranes doing the heavy lifting, there’s no risk of damage during transloading. Smooth, secure, and seamless – just how we like it. 🦾 And let’s not forget our 80ft Sggns XL wagons from TATRAVAGONKA a.s. Meet Tamás 👋🏻 Tamás works in the Maintenance and Repair Inspection at our rail subsidiary METRANS Group in Dunajská Streda, Slovakia. He monitors and controls the work of the technicians that are responsible for the technical conditions of the containers at the gate and in the container repair shop. Tamás joined us in 2015 and initially worked as a technician in the Check In department. Since 2022 he is certified as a professional inspector. Now, it is his responsibility to minimise mistakes when communicating with shippers about the technical conditions and repairs of containers. In addition, Tamás assists in external audits, helps the technicians to simplify their work and manages the communication with the M&R departments at our foreign terminals. Tamás likes to share his technical knowledge and is eager to receive more certifications. The biggest challenge in his job? Meeting the expectations of the shipowners. All inspections and reporting must adhere not only to IICL regulations and standards, but also to separate shipowner’s standards as companies occasionally have standards that differ from IICL. It’s essential for Tamás to be familiar with these standards and know how to differentiate them. When confronting someone with a mistake, Tamás always tries to find common ground so that both parties are satisfied with the outcome, and nobody feels guilty about mistakes that have been made. #HHLA #METRANS #train #rail #team #technician

A new era of digitalization in container repair! 🦾 We are thrilled to announce the signing of a contract with Survey Compass 📋✍️, which brings modernization and increased efficiency to our processes. Here are the key changes: 📱 Digitalized Repair Estimates: No more paperwork!
