Are we meeting expectations? What do people really think? 🤔 We were just as curious to find out! 🔍 That's why, as part of our anniversary celebrations, we commissioned an evaluation of our 5-year journey to understand where we stand and how we can improve our support for the expat community in Ostrava. We've just celebrated 5 years of our existence! 🥳 Over the past five years, we have been dedicated to helping expats feel at home in the Ostrava region, whether by providing relocation and soft-landing support or by organizing events that build bridges between expats and the local community. 🤗 Our small pilot project powered by MSIC - Moravskoslezské inovační centrum and supported by City of Ostrava - official and Moravskoslezský kraj managed to evolve into a public service that has helped over 2500 expats with their enquiries, and connected over 6000 of expats through more than 250 events. 🤩 Beyond that, we launched our very own podcast, shining a spotlight on the lives of expats in our region. We actively support the creative and cultural industries by hosting the Expats & Locals exhibition. And let’s not forget our very own career festival—Work & Life! Time flies when you're having fun! 🥂 This all wouldn't be possible without the help of our partners and supporters! Did you know it's easy to be employing expats illegally by mistake? 😱 Check out our post to know what to look out for! 🔍 Why is it important to check-in with your expats and to learn their Visa and residence permit codes? 🤔 Picture this - you're employing a student who drops out - they don't tell you. Since you don't know, you can't notify the labour office and terminate the student's contract. Still, you're employing the student illegally! 😬 You should also look out for that you comply with other legal obligations like keeping the records and notifying the labour office about any and every change that you are aware of. 🧐 We realize that bureaucracy and administrative work is boring and dull, but we're here for you! 🤗 So if you need help, or if you think you could benefit from external consultants, reach out! 🤝

We’re so excited to share highlights from the first-ever African Night hosted during the time of Christmas. 🎄 🤩 The event brought together over 60 amazing people from Zimbabwe, Ghana, Nigeria, Botswana, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Mauritius, and Zambia to celebrate and strengthen the African community here in Ostrava. ☺️ The evening kicked off with introductions where everyone shared a bit about their countries, cultures, and themselves! 🤗  🤓 Did you know that Nigeria has the biggest fashion, technological and creative hub in Africa with over 3,400 tech startups? And then came the food… 🤤 We enjoyed some incredible West African dishes like peanut butter soup, jollof rice, and we'll stop here, before we make you hungry! 🤭 The night ended with music, dancing, karaoke, and conversations that brought everyone closer. It was an evening of connecting, and celebrating. 💃 Thank you to the organizers Gilles-Roland WADJAS & his team, and to everyone who joined and helped make this event so special. ❤️ Let’s keep building a stronger expat communities in Ostrava! 💪  What community would you like to build next? 👀
