On September 10th, Pangea hosted a screening of the documentary "The State Will Own My Pregnant Body". This documentary follows a group of abortion rights activists fighting against a city council ordinance to codify Amarillo as a sanctuary city for the unborn. This documentary was provided to Pangea by the very same organization featured in the documentary, the Amarillo Reproductive Freedom Alliance. During the documentary and following discussion, the members of our organization were able to gain insight on what abortion is like in different parts of the world. Sadly, reproductive freedom is under constant threat in many countries. Abortion and reproductive healthcare are incredibly stigmatized and misunderstood. Thus, it is key to create community dialogue regarding abortion rights and the limitation of freedoms from abortion bans. From this education night, we were able to empower one another by engaging in positive discourse about reproductive rights and activism. It is incredibly important to stand up for the rights and freedoms and women and other marginalized groups that may be affected by the limitations of reproductive healthcare. Abortion, reproductive healthcare, and access to proper medical care is a HUMAN RIGHT. This education session was led by Graceline Cates. She procured the documentary from the Amarillo Reproductive Freedom Alliance and led us in discussion regarding international abortion practices. Throwback to the final day - Day 5 of #PalestineWeek in Prague! ❤️🇵🇸 We can’t believe it’s been two weeks and we miss you all a lot so here are some pictures to take us back 🍉 We kicked off the day by reading some beautiful poetry by Mahmoud Darwish, Palestine’s national poet, in Arabic, English and Czech 🌾 Afterwards, members of the Palestinian Club Palestinsky Klub and Pangea hosted a brainstorming session on international solidarity efforts with the Palestinian people 📣 The Palestinian Club then gave us a quick Dabke for Beginners lesson to get us ready for the B2B set with DJs TakaDumm and Motus who transported us to the Levant through music 💃🏻🎶 The sounds of Ana Dammi Falasteeni and traditional arabic songs with a modern twist filled the air until sunset ❤️🩹 Many thanks to Palestinian Club for bringing us some delicious olives from Palestine and sumac lemonade 🧆🫒 Throughout the day we also had a Tatreez (Palestinian embroidery) workshop by Lucie again and an arts workshop - thank you all for participating! 🎨🧵🪡 and many thanks for Sofiya for creating some beautiful henna art in the camp 🤎 #palestineweek #prague #throwback #solidarity
