This week, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel awarded the Order of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk 3rd class in memoriam to former Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Czechoslovak Service Director Pavel Pechacek for outstanding services to advancing democracy, humanity, and human rights. This week, Kateryna Yesypenko is advocating on behalf of her husband, imprisoned Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty journalist Vladyslav Yesypenko, in Canada at the Ministerial Conference on the Human Dimension of the Peace Formula. For more than three years, Vlad has been imprisoned for the “crime” of informing the world about the situation in occupied Crimea. “He knew it was dangerous. But his commitment to his country and to the truth was stronger than his fear,” said Kateryna.
