Continuous feedback starts with regular 1:1's between the manager and the direct report to double down on goals/objectives, review critical project/task execution, and, just as importantly, how the team member feels they are performing the work. The manager needs to get buy-in from the employees to understand where performance improvement needs to be made and will partner with their manager to determine how they can get the person back on track. If they can, the team members will be able to set new, challenging goals to continue learning and improving. If not, the manager and the employee will have a difficult conversation about the fact that it might not be the right fit. But that conversation will work out better 9/10 then a PIP.
