Incidents of jamming and spoofing are on the rise worldwide, affecting the navigation of ships. However, modern navigation systems continue to assist bridge teams in navigating safely. Gyrocompasses from Anschütz, for example, are designed to be highly resistant to jamming and spoofing. Heading receivers, such as autopilots or dynamic positioning systems, also function reliably. And what about Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS)? Anschütz's ECDIS NX continuously monitors the integrity of sensor data. If the input of position data fails or is doubtful, ECDIS NX estimates the position. The Most Probable Position (MPP) and Pool of Errors (PoE) features are powerful tools that enable crews to navigate safely even without the Global Navigation Satellite System. MPP continuously calculates the uncertainty of the estimated position and displays it on the chart, while PoE provides effective ways to reduce this uncertainty, for example through position fixes. ECDIS NX is an intuitive Electronic Chart Display and Information System with a large modular set of tools for various requirements and applications. It supports bridge teams in their daily tasks of route planning, route monitoring and voyage management to ensure safe, convenient and efficient navigation. With the new ECDIS NX software release, Anschütz has now further simplified route planning. A new feature allows users to plan new routes based on previously travelled tracks. It's hard to believe that SMM Hamburg, the world's leading trade fair for the maritime industry, was just a couple of weeks ago. What a great trade show it was! This year, we promised to make a donation to the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger, Die Seenotretter – DGzRS) for every visitor to our stand. The organisation is responsible for the German waters of North Sea and Baltic Sea and is financed by voluntary contributions only. Anschütz GmbH has now made this donation – and because it got really busy at the stand, it was well worth it! We are very pleased to be able to support the incredibly important work of the Sea Rescuers and their irreplaceable commitment to saving lives at sea. Next Sunday, the topsail schooner Segelschiff Thor Heyerdahl e.V. will leave Kiel and set sail again as part of the 'Classroom under Sail' project! For more than 40 years, the traditional ship built in 1930 has been going on multi-month voyages during the winter for half of the year. On board are pupils who, in addition to their lessons, develop their personalities by learning about responsibility, care and camaraderie on board, as well as foreign cultures and countries. As a long-standing partner and sponsor, Anschütz GmbH is proud to support this beautiful ship and great project by maintaining and upgrading the navigation and communication equipment on board.
