Last week, our R&D team in Chasse-sur-Rhône (France) showcased recent case studies on optimizing APIs and intermediates. Highlights included a multistep synthesis for an Antibody-Drug Conjugate (#ADC) linker and a continuous flow process for an unstable intermediate. 🔎 𝑹𝒐𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 was the key theme, with the team demonstrating process reliability and precision with statistical tools. 🎯 With a 24% increase in yield and a 63% improvement in Process Mass Intensity (PMI) in crystallization, we eliminated the need for recrystallization while enhancing both productivity and sustainability. 🚀 We're thrilled to share insights from a recent article in #ChemistryToday by Jan Haller and Oliver Plietzsch, spotlighting the pivotal role of hazardous chemistry in developing commercial-scale processes for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (#APIs). The article highlights how to balance risk management with efficiency—key priorities in the pharmaceutical industry. Using the case study of #Oteseconazole (VT-1161), the authors explore the journey from development to scale-up and commercial production. Recently launched as #Vivjoa™ by Mycovia Pharmaceuticals, Oteseconazole is a groundbreaking antifungal treatment for a chronic infection affecting 138 million women worldwide. 📈 Notably, they increased chemical yield from 67% to 86%, while reducing process mass intensity by 55%. This project demonstrates our pioneering approach at #Axplora, where we don’t just react, but seek innovative answers in new places.
