Last week, #BayerMiddleEast had the honor to be part of the Global PHDC in Cairo, Egypt, which brought stakeholders together to discuss how we can create change for a sustainable future in the broader context of human development.
Reflecting back, #Bayer is proud to highlight the diverse commitments of our esteemed colleagues:
🏥Hugo Hagen, Senior Bayer Representative Middle East, shared insights as a panelist on “Revolutionizing Healthcare: Leveraging Investments for Sustainable Growth”, highlighting how crucial innovation is and how it can transform patient care.
🤝In addition, Bayer co-hosted a side together with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Egypt event “Faith Voices for Family Planning and Women’s Empowerment: Faith-based Approaches to Fostering Healthy Communities”. The session was moderated by Sami Joost, Head of Corporate Affairs, Sustainability, and Open Innovation, and focused on demystifying myths around family planning and how theological narratives can be leveraged to drive positive social change around sexual and reproductive health.
📜Moreover, Hugo, along with the members of the Egypt leadership team Hatem Ismail, CPA, Michael Wanees and Gasser Yousry, represented Bayer at a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health & Population - Egypt to enhance early diagnosis, screening and treatment of #ProstateCancer.
🌍 Building on this, Hugo also joined the “Driving progress to improve liver cancer patients’ outcomes in Africa” session, highlighting urgent healthcare needs and collaborative solutions within the region.
🔬Further, Dr. Samer Lezzaiq, Vice President, Head of Global Health Unit (GHU) at Bayer Pharmaceuticals Division led a discussions on “Predictive Health: Integrating Prevention and Analytics for Global Wellbeing” - an essential step towards proactive healthcare.
👥Moreover, Özden Yiğit, Head of Human Resources, addressed the importance of planning and implementation of local policies in the region that support human development, at the “Transforming Social Protection: Social policies that work for all” panel talk.
🗣️ Michael Wanees, Country Group Head North Africa – Pharmaceuticals, led a panel and highlighted Bayer's innovative approaches to health education, emphasizing how clear, culturally sensitive communication drives positive health outcomes and community engagement in the region.
And finally, Mohamed Mustafa MSc, Chapter Head Patient & Market Access Middle East & North Africa, participated in a panel discussion highlighting Bayer's contributions to "Hayah Kareema" (Decent Life). This initiative, endorsed by H.E. President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, aims to enhance the quality of life in Egypt's rural communities, aligning with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
