Yesterday our seaweed expert Miriam Gößmann was on site at The Future of Protein Production in Amsterdam. 🌱✨ We are happy and grateful for the opportunity to share our mission and tell more about our work with seaweed and how we create fish alternatives. Thank you for everyone who came along, said hey and tried our delicious TU-NAH. 🐟💙
🚀 What an amazing Startup Symposium on Day 1 of the Future of Protein Production Amsterdam 2024! It was a privilege to host such an exciting lineup of innovative companies that are shaping the future of alternative proteins and sustainable food systems. Here's a recap of the brilliant startups that pitched today: 🌱 Levprot Bioscience - Matilde de las Rivas, CEO, shared how they are leveraging precision fermentation to produce alternative proteins in yeast cells for the biopharma and food-tech industries. 🌊 BettaFish - Miriam Gößmann presented their mission to create fish alternatives using seaweed and legumes, alongside developing novel seaweed-based ingredients for the food industry. 🌾 Bright Biotech - Mohammad Khalil El Hajj, PhD, CEO, explained how molecular farming is transforming recombinant protein production for food and pharmaceuticals, particularly focusing on growth factors. ⚙️ Source Technology - Rikke Miklos introduced the Powerheater technology, pushing forward the development of protein production processes across meat, fish, plant, insect, and cultivated proteins. 🌿 MarraBio - Led by CEO Daniel Peters, develops ultra-stable, low-cost alternatives to the extracellular matrix (ECM) and growth factor proteins used in cultivated meat production. Their technology aims to improve the scalability and cost-effectiveness of cell-based meat by offering novel protein materials that support cell growth and differentiation. 🥔 PoLoPo - Co-founded by Raya Liberman-Aloni and Maya Sapir-Mir, PoLoPo uses molecular farming to produce animal proteins, such as egg proteins, directly in plants. They focus on growing these proteins in common crops like potatoes, providing a sustainable and scalable solution to protein production. 🌊 POSEIDONA - Sònia Hurtado's Poseidona is committed to ocean-based alternative proteins. They harness the power of marine ecosystems to develop sustainable plant-based protein alternatives, particularly focused on seafood analogs. Their mission is to provide protein solutions that help preserve and protect marine environments. Big thanks to our panelists—Gerrit Feuerriegel, Katarzyna (Kasia) Gil from Icos Capital and Claire Smith—for providing invaluable feedback and insights. A big thank you to Benjamin Debonneville for moderating the entire session. Legend! #FutureOfProtein #AlternativeProteins #StartupSymposium #FoodInnovation #RAI #SustainableFood #FPPAmsterdam
