Our next #BrenntagPioneers candidate is Erin Sedlak, who is part of the Global Sustainability team. She plays a key role in executing our sustainability initiatives and driving Brenntag’s ESG goals and strategy forward. After starting her career in beverage distribution, Erin joined Brenntag about 14 years ago as a marketing specialist and later in her career developed a deep passion for project management and sustainability. As Sustainability Manager, she contributes to global and U.S. projects, including managing the sustainability strategy, Brenntag’s Carbon Fund Program, scope 1 and 2 emission reduction initiatives, training programs, governance topics and M&A due diligence among other tasks. Erin extensively cooperates with the operations managers to find the right solution to decarbonize our emissions while driving the sustainability strategy forward and maintaining open dialogue. One of her major milestones is the completion of the solar panels project in Santa Fe and the introduction of the first electric trucks in California. Corporate values and living up to them means a lot to her: “I strive to include the core values in my daily professional as well as personal life. To me they are key to a balanced and productive culture. The core value of Care stands out the most to her: “It’s not just about taking care of our people and customers but ensuring we make a positive impact on the environment, too. "Through global teamwork, we’re on a successful path to meet our sustainability targets.” The success showed in achieving EcoVadis Platinum status for the second time in a row. Innovative ways to improve safety, reliability and sustainability in #ChemicalDistribution: When it comes to drum transportation our team in BENELUX introduced DrumGuards. A DrumGuard can be considered a sturdy “clamp” that holds two, three or four drums together, with the “clamp” attached to the pallet. By using DrumGuards, the team improves the safety and quality of transportation of our products to our customers. The drums are firmly secured and cannot move, which reduces the risks caused by knocks or vibrations during transportation. Also, the reusable DrumGuards contribute to the reduction of disposable packaging materials. Our next #BrenntagPioneers candidate is Erica Takeda, who is driving Brenntag Specialties’ strategy and business in the Pharma and Personal Care industry in Latin America. In a dual role, she on top oversees all Brenntag Specialties’ industries in the region. When Erica joined Brenntag about eight years ago as Regional President for Brazil, she already brought in over twenty years of experience from various leadership roles in the chemical industry. Erica feels the connection of Brenntag’s corporate values with her own personal values and shares: “This alignment makes us feel a strong sense of belonging and purpose in our work.” For her, “Excellence” stands out the most: “Excellence drives me in many dimensions, both personally and professionally. It motivates me to constantly ask what we can do better to serve our customers, suppliers and employees.” A significant milestone and highlight for Erica and her team is the recent announcement of the acquisition of PIC and PharmaSpecial, significantly expanding Brenntag’s position in the growing Life Science market in Brazil. “As our first Specialty acquisition in the region, this is sending a powerful message of our commitment to suppliers and customers in Latin America.” On the growing importance of sustainability, Erica emphasizes: “Customers and suppliers are increasingly focused on sustainability, from reducing packaging to sourcing renewable raw materials.
