🌀'Back to the future - 25 years of electrode extrusion' - was the title of Nicolaus Rehse's presentation at the Fraunhofer IWS Dry Coating Forum.   🔋 He presented various approaches to the production of electrodes and separators using established processes from the polymer industry. ...COLLIN Lab & Pilot Solutions built its first electrode extrusion line 25 years ago - and offers optimised complete solutions for the production of electrodes with less or even no solvent.   🔋 The electrode material can be mixed by continuously compounding the raw materials in a twin-screw extruder. Controlled shearing and customised screw design ensure good dispersion of all materials. This electrode material can be extruded directly as a free-standing electrode and then laminated to the current collector. Or it can be applied to the metal foil by extrusion coating.   🔋 In order to create a homogeneous thickness profile, the design of the die plays an important role in generating a well-defined mass flow at the die gap.
