 Not only are they both farm animals and pets, they are far more important to our economy than most people realize.

 They are not only a source of meat, but play a major role in the complete utilization of the animal. 
In addition to the well-known use of pig products in cosmetics and medicine, there are also other unusual uses that one might not immediately suspect 💡 

👗 Pig skin in fashion: Pigskin is used to make gloves, shoes and other leather goods.

 🖌️ Pig bristles in paint brushes: High-quality paint brushes, especially for artists and painters, are often made of pig bristles.

 🍷 Pig fat and gelatin in industry: Pig fat is used in the production of biodiesel. Gelatine from pig bones and skin is used in the production of films, paper and even in the clarification of wine.

„Fully AI controlled? No way“ - or is it? 🤔 We are often questioned when we talk about AI controlled production. When we talk about AI, we do not just mean „some machine learning“. In Germany, there are fewer and fewer pig farms👎🏼 But what about the rest of the EU? Ear and tail biting 🐷 A problem with many causes and no less negative consequences for farmers. 
But what exactly does it mean and why does it arise in the first place? 🤷🏻♀️ The reasons are complex and cannot always be clearly defined, but the basic rule is: 🐷 Stress and boredom: Pigs are highly intelligent. When they are under stress or bored, they tend to bite each other. This can be caused by overcrowding, a lack of employment opportunities or inadequate housing conditions. They then primarily bite the ears and tail. 🌾 Nutritional problems: An unbalanced diet or a lack of certain nutrients can increase the risk of biting behavior. Irregular feeding times or inadequate feeding areas can also lead to conflict 🌍 Environmental factors: Poor air quality, extreme temperatures or inadequate ventilation can affect pig welfare and lead to aggressive behavior 🧬 Genetic factors: Some pigs are genetically more prone to stress-related behavior, including ear and tail biting 🩺 Infections and diseases: Health problems such as infections or inflammation can also lead to biting behavior, as affected pigs are restless and stressed. In addition, the areas at the ears and the end of the tail usually become necrotic due to poor circulation. 💡 It is often said “if the gut is healthy, the ears and tail are healthy too”. This is exactly where we come in. Since we promote the intestinal health of animals with our products, we can also demonstrably reduce ear and tail biting!

Ross WHAT? 🤔 When we talk about Ross 308 in Livestock we talk about a special fast growing breed, specially developed for high efficacy. 🚀 🐥Origin and breeding: Aviagen in the UK developed the Ross 308 broiler. It is a cross between various meat breeds, specially bred for rapid growth and high meat production. 🐥Appearance and build: These broilers have snow-white plumage and elastic skin, giving them an attractive appearance. They have broad chests and strong legs, indicating their fighting breed ancestors. 🐥Temperament: Despite their fighting cock ancestry, Ross 308 chickens are not aggressive. They have a calm temperament and do well in a variety of housing conditions, including cage systems. 🐥Egg production: In addition to their primary function of providing meat, Ross 308 chickens also lay a significant number of eggs. They begin laying at around six months of age and can produce up to 200 eggs per year. 🐥Growth and weight gain: Ross 308 broilers are known for their rapid weight gain. They reach a slaughter weight of about 2.5 to 3 kg within 6-8 weeks. The weight of an adult bird can be up to 5.5-6 kg. 🐥Feed efficiency: These broilers are highly efficient at converting feed, meaning they require less feed to gain weight. 💡Did you know? 

🪱Worms are more than just small and slippery. 
They are a highly sensitive species when it comes to sensing environmental stimuli. 
🌬️ They need a well-ventilated environment as they breathe through their skin. Low oxygen levels in the soil can lead to stress and even death. 
In addition, a too humid environment can suffocate the worms! 

 ☝🏼This also means that breeding our worms is not as easy as you might imagine. 

🌍Sustainable and, above all, reproducible breeding without a stable environment is therefore not possible for our purposes, because our production software also calculates how long worms need to hatch and grow, what stage the worm has reached in which box and what parameters are present.

Reduce carbon footprint in agriculture? 
Yes, we can do that too! 🌍 


In addition to animal welfare and animal health, this is one of the topics that is also very close to our hearts, because reducing the carbon footprint is possible without major investments or invasive changes. 🐷🐥🌾

 Let's take as an example a farm with 60.000 broiler chickens with an approximate CO2 emission of 180kg per cycle, which means about 3kg per animal. (Data are average values published by the Federal Environment Agency) 💡 

Our studies show, among other things: 
✅We can improve feed conversion by at least 3.4%
 ✅We can reduce the use of antibiotics by up to 80% 

 This means that we can already reduce the output per animal to 2,96 kg through improved feed conversion, and with the reduced use of medication (antibiotics), even to 2,81 kg per animal. 💪🏽 

If we add further improvements such as less spillage on the slaughter line and thus a higher utilization rate, we end up with 2,79kg per animal. 🤯

 This makes a total reduction in CO2 emissions per animal of 8,37% 🚀
