Yesterday, I attended my very first GCUC UK and it was 💣 I am still processing everything I got to experience there, but I'll try my best to structure why this was a Thursday I'll remember for a very long time. 👯 People x Community First, my favorite thing about any conference I attend is always to meet and reconnect with people I admire for their work, passion, and dedication to push coworking further. Yesterday was all about that! So grateful to 👩🏻💻Emilie Lashmar, Lizzy Kaplan, Liz Elam, Stormy McBride, and all the volunteers who made this experience an incredible one. I loved reconnecting and catching up with Alex Young, Matt Miller (❤️), Suzanne Murdock, Carmen Lecuane, Matt Drinkwater, Dean Connell, Claire Carpenter, Lucy McInally, Jonny Rosenblatt, Caleb Parker, Zoe Ellis-Moore, Helga Moreno, Carmen Lecuane, Ivo Tabakov, Jessica Samson, Fiona Ross, Carlos Almansa Ballesteros, Matt Drinkwater, Elena Monserrate Diez (she/her), Sarah Travers, Haley Egusquiza, Brad Krauskopf, Justin Harley, Edward Crabtree and so many others! It was also an absolute pleasure to finally meet Freddie Fforde and Ben Newton, whom I admire for his incredible work with Patch. Another highlight of mine was to meet Arian Lewis from Kiln. We have not been in the US for a while so meeting Arian and learning how they are positively contributing to so many cities in the US through their spaces was incredible. (And I can't wait to learn more) 👀 Content I had the chance to attend GCUC to speak about a topic I deeply care about coworking teams. Over the last 9 years, we've done, with Coworkies, a tremendous amount of work to attract talents to the coworking world via our job board while also supporting them in growing their careers through educational content and experiences. Yesterday, all the sweat and tears we put into Coworkies was highlighted during a panel I loved contributing to: People Are Your Competitive Edge. The title is not even a question (Props to Emilie for that) because... THEY ARE. At Coworkies we say that "Great teams make Great Coworking Spaces" and we mean every word of it. Thanks, Vanessa Belleau MA MSC FRSA▪️ for an amazing moderation job on the topic. Cameron MacRae, Sarah Hayford, and Derek Lutz, it was an absolute pleasure to share the stage with you! Props for all your work and dedication. Beyond the panel I contributed to, there were plenty of other incredible conversations throughout the day on market insights, AI, Community, Design, or Experience. I loved that it ended on a very high note (something you don't see often in conferences) with a fireside chat between Liz Elam and Rob Teel on how and why Yardi invested in WeWork, it really felt like being an insider to the entire story. I'll stop here (although I could go on) but I look forward to experiencing more GCUC in the UK and beyond 🇺🇸 #coworking #gcucuk

Our tour of Marseille’s coworking scene continues 😎 One thing we loved about France’s second largest city is the diversity there is when it comes to coworking spaces. What makes us say that? Discover Le Mangrove, a coworking / café located in the heart ❤️ of the city. Lucas Alayrac, the Founder of the space, invited us for a tour and we loved learning how he converted a high-street store into a modular coworking and café space. As the conversation went on, it caught the ears of one of his coworkers, whom you see on the picture. She shared with us how being a member of Le Mangrove helps her feel surrounded and productive throughout her day. If that’s not a love letter 💌 to coworking then what is? 🇫🇷 Bonjouuuuur, are you ready to continue our coworking tour of Marseille? Today, you are invited to discover Wellio, a French 'Pro-working' brand by real estate group Covivio. If you do not know Wellio yet, the brand operates 10 locations across France and Italy. What's the singularity of Wellio you wonder? Their interior design. Each location is beautifully put together while also being connected to the city, the neighborhood it is rooted in. For instance, in Marseille, Wellio is located not far away from the Harbour. As a result, a lot of the members are companies working within the maritime industry, such as shipyard companies, maritime transport, etc. The interior design of the space, created in collaboration with Colliers International is a reflection of the surroundings and the members it attracts. The color palette is a mix of blue (for the sea) and yellow (for the sun) and a lot of the details around the space are connected to life at sea. We visited the space around lunch, which was an amazing time to be at Wellio. Why? We could witness firsthand members' interactions, from lunch together in the shared café to ping-pong matches, it felt VERY good to be a part of the Wellio community for an hour :) If you pass by Marseille, make sure to add Wellio to your go-to list of coworking spaces to visit! There is one thing we LOVE about coworking spaces which is their ability to revive old buildings and transform them into incredible places to work, learn, and connect. While in Prague, we had the chance to discover OPERO which fitted right into that category of spaces. Hana Kučerová and her team (cc Bára Seidlová, Tereza Jacinová, Riva Karo) revived what used to be the most modern print house in Central Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. What did they make with it? Pure magic 🪄 Not just a place to work, but instead a range of value-added services that contribute to the wellbeing and growth of their community. We virtually sat down with Hana to discuss the journey of Opero from 2016 to today.
