☀️ August is just around the corner and that means vacation time! For all those who are still busy on the road, we have prepared a new masterclass for you: Elissa Moller from the The National Institutes of Health & University of Maryland is going to join us for the next class. Elissa will present findings and insights of the mechanosensitive channel MscS, how important protein-lipid interactions are for its gating cycle, and what helped her in extracting the channel from its membrane environment. Save August 1st in your calendars to learn about her workflows, how to troubleshoot, and what else is happening in structural biology. Not long ago, we launched our membrane protein target pipeline for your drug discovery projects and we are constantly revealing the progress on these highly valuable targets to the community. Today, I’m pleased to showcase to you 𝐂𝐃𝟏𝟔𝟑, also known as Scavenger receptor cysteine-rich type 1 protein M130 – a single pass type I receptor that is expressed in monocytes and mature macrophages where it plays an essential role in clearance and endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes by macrophages. After shedding, the soluble form may play an anti-inflammatory role, and may be a valuable diagnostic parameter for monitoring macrophage activation in inflammatory conditions. Are you developing new drugs? And do you need highly thermal-stable 𝐂𝐃𝟏𝟔𝟑 for your #drugdiscovery screenings at RT or even 37°C? Or are you interested in getting access to the #cryoEM structure of full-length wild-type 𝐂𝐃𝟏𝟔𝟑 in its native lipid environment? Jump on our off-the-shelf projects to shorten your drug discovery pipeline! Is your target not in our Drug Discovery Pipeline? Interested in learning more about our 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐌𝐏™ 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 for stabilization of any #membraneprotein? The Game is on: Challenge us with your most complex targets! Listen up structural biologists and drug discovery experts! We are thrilled to announce a significant breakthrough at Cube Biotech! Leveraging just one of our newest copolymer inventions in our NativeMP™ Platform, we have successfully obtained the very first structure of the ‘Human’ P2X4 membrane protein in its native membrane environment via cryo-EM. P2X4, a crucial player in synaptic transmission and inflammation, holds significant promise in drug discovery, particularly for developing novel therapies for chronic pain and inflammatory diseases. Traditionally, detergents have been the standard method for stabilizing membrane proteins for cryo-EM. However, they fall short of preserving the protein’s native environment, affecting functional stability and further analysis (Schmidpeter et al., 2022 https://lnkd.in/etCdXuSv; Corradi et al., 2018 https://lnkd.in/eA5K2aHQ). Our Next Generation Copolymers – AASTYs, Ultrasolute™ Amphipols, and our newest invention, Ultrasolute™ Cubipol – address this challenge by stabilizing membrane proteins in their native environment in a single step. This enhances the functional stability of these proteins and makes them suitable for sensitive downstream applications like cryo-EM. Stay tuned for the upcoming launch, where we will unveil the full lineup of the new copolymers joining our Next Generation Copolymers. Get ready to explore how these innovative solutions can revolutionize your research and drug discovery efforts! #CryoEM #MembraneProteins #DrugDiscovery #BiotechInnovation #P2X4 #ScientificBreakthrough #CubeBiotech
