At 8000 meters above sea level, air pressure is too low to support human life. A short visit leads to weakness and mental confusion; staying too long means death 🏔️ In this Weekly Chart, our developer Linus looks at the dangers of climbing Mount Everest:

This morning, I came across the “Fix my Chart” article series by Rose Mintzer-Sweeney on the Datawrapper blog, and I loved it! In this series, readers share their data visualization problems, and Rose gives helpful tips and advice on how to improve them. The coolest thing is that she also transforms the entire infographic so we can see the before and after images (which we all love, don’t we?). I really encourage you to check out the Datawrapper blog and explore their articles. The latest “Fix my Chart” piece is about sequential storytelling, and I’m sharing the result of Rose’s great work below. ~ Thursday Praise Day #datavisualization #infographic #dataviz

🎉 New blogpost! As a white German, I’m often uncomfortable talking about race. In German, the word is strongly associated with colonialism and Nazis — and as someone who grew up in a very homogeneous environment, I still feel naive about race from time to time. But I'm very interested in giving people the best possible advice to choose colors in data visualizations. And sometimes, that means choosing colors for racial categories. So I collected lots of charts and maps that do just that, researched what others have said about it... and have just published a new blog post with *six guidelines* that will hopefully help you choose colors for race, ethnicity and world regions that make all your readers feel respected.
