Ever wondered where #EV owners usually charge their vehicles? Recently, we asked you about your personal preferences, and while many of you charge EVs at home, 37% rely on charging at public stations. This reflects a notable #trend. According to a new EV Charging Index by Roland Berger, the public charging infrastructure in Western #Europe has seen significant improvements over the past two years. 75% of European respondents now find public charging to be increasingly accessible, although many still see room for improvement in #charging speed. The average vehicle-to-public-charger ratio has improved to 15.8 EVs in 2023. This is crucial as demand remains high: Over 80% of Western Europeans rely on public chargers at least once a week, with nearly a third using them three or more times each week. Moreover, 46% of Western Europeans cover 40% or more of their annual mileage through public charging. This rising demand for public charging facilities highlights their essential role in supporting #sustainable mobility and the broader adoption of electric vehicles. Want to learn more? Great news for German #EV drivers! Running to the #future with a great team! On a sunny Wednesday, our colleagues joined 30,000 enthusiastic runners at the annual #B2Run around Olympiapark in Munich. We are incredibly proud of our 21 dedicated runners who tackled the 5.3 km course, with the first DCS colleague crossing the finish line in just 21 minutes. All participants completed the race within 21 and 46 minutes – an amazing achievement for the DCS #team! We want to extend our congratulations to everyone who participated and put their fitness levels to the test. A big thank you also goes to the colleagues who came by to cheer everyone on – your support made a significant difference! At DCS, our wholehearted commitment extends beyond the workplace. Public charging infrastructure on the rise! Last week, we asked you to guess the average #charging point occupancy rate in #Germany. Half of you got it right: according to BDEW Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V., the nationwide charging station occupancy rate was around 12.5 percent in 2023. Moreover, this rate varies significantly from region to region, ranging from 3 to 23 percent. These relatively low figures are now confirmed by our internal data. According to the latest evaluation of the DCS network, which covers 99 percent of all #EV charging points in Germany, there are only 11 EVs for every public charging point in the country. By contrast, there are a staggering 544 IC engine vehicles for every single gas pump. These updates on the state of German charging infrastructure should alleviate range anxiety for those who are still undecided. If you need a particularly quick charge, Switzerland has you covered - with 2,764 fast-charging points at nearly 13,000 stations, you'll be back on the road in no time. Most of the fast chargers can be found along the St. Gotthard North-South Axis, an important route from northern to southern #Europe. The general #emobility development in Switzerland is also positive: the share of new #EV registrations in 2023 was around 21%, which is 5% above the European average. However, Switzerland still ranks lower than Scandinavian and Benelux countries in terms of EV market share and growth. An efficient #charging service is crucial for ensuring a smooth switch to #sustainable mobility.
