𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 🚜 Last week I had the opportunity to visit a farm at the edge of the Bavarian forest, bringing along our driveblocks Perception Development Kit (PDK) to record hours and hours of valuable data and evaluate our software modules in various agricultural settings. Having a portable setup like the PDK gives us an edge on advancing our multi-task foundation model for machine vision as well as benchmarking our entire perception pipeline in diverse, real-world scenarios! We have ELIV - Electronics in Vehicles and Electronics in Mobile Machinery 2024 in the books - and it has been a great combination! The two days have been packed with a mix of high quality presentations from various speakers and good conversations on the trade show floor. 🚜 The puzzle pieces are starting to come together - the mobile machinery sector is well positioned to move forward quickly on various levels of automation. Several companies showed great progress on the hardware as well as the software side for autonomy in the off-road sector. Agriculture is leading the pack here as highlighted by Jahmy Hindman from John Deere - with other applications following closely. ❗ Safety is top of mind for everyone - most challenging here is still the meaningful combination of the individual puzzle pieces to solutions which are safe and provides business value at the same time. 🤖 AI is everywhere - however, we clearly have to distinguish between on-vehicle and off-vehicle applications. While LLMs dominate the off-vehicle domain, the on-vehicle domain needs solutions tailored to the specific task. This remains challenging given the vast data requirements and limited embedded compute resources. Despite all of the technical aspects, it has been a great chance to catch up with the german tech ecosystem - Thomas Wambera and Lore Beck from our partner Apex.AI, Oli Ramoli from our partner Seyond, and getting a great camera only perception demo from Spleenlab GmbH! #autonomousvehicles #autonomousdriving #ELIV2024
