On 2 & 3 July, #EASA hosted the #AI Days High Level Conference 2024 that provided a key waypoint between the exploratory and consolidation phases of the EASA AI Roadmap. The roadmap takes a human-centric approach that is driven by the principle of human oversight. The effective and #safe use of evolving AI technology in aviation relies on collaboration and the sharing of experiences. It is also vital to have open conversations about the challenge of AI ethics in aviation. The second day also allowed for the final results of the MLEAP (Machine Learning Applications Approval) Horizon Europe Research project to be shared with the aviation community. Presentations and a link to the recordings of these days are available now 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJ6vWBqY

The demand for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (#SAF) will grow ever more to meet the goals set in the #ReFuelEU #Aviation Regulation. That’s why #EASA is supporting the scale-up of SAF, via the now operating EU SAF Clearing House, as a critical step forward in reducing aviation emissions. The EU SAF Clearing House acts as a one-stop-shop for #fuel producers to provide them with everything that is required for efficient ASTM D4054 standard evaluation, including “pre-screening”, partial funding for testing and report writing. This is the last thing you want to see in your operation 😓 Keeping the aviation industry safe is a challenging task. It’s a dynamic place where things don’t always go to plan, yet… Out of 7.3 Million commercial aeroplane flights that took place in 2023, we have only had 18 accidents. None of these were fatal. This amazing achievement is thanks to professionals from across our industry working together. There are still lots of risks to be managed across the industry. This is where the #EASA Annual Safety Review (ASR) is there to help. Download the latest version of the ASR and find out more about what you and your organisation needs to be doing to manage safety in a challenging world. 👉 https://lnkd.in/evFnMiZx

#EASA has updated the Safety Information Bulletin (#SIB) on Global Navigation Satellite System (#GNSS) Outage and Alterations Leading to Navigation/Surveillance Degradation. SIB 2022-02 was first published on March 17, 2022 and this is now the third update based on the latest analysis. ℹ https://lnkd.in/eNnNj_QR The update reflects the recent new phenomena, such as a cases of spurious traffic alerts, and pilots having reacted to false TAWS PU warnings resulting in high-rate uncoordinated climbs (note that TCAS is deprioritised over TAWS Pull Up). The revised SIB also makes it clear that spoofing is riskier than jamming (due to detection possibilities, effects on systems, cumulative effects of several systems being affected) and updates the recommendations to the various actors on this topic. Information on the impacted airspace has been moved to a dedicated webpage that can be more easily and quickly updated as new information becomes available 👉 https://lnkd.in/eMcKkQ23
