Krankenhäuser und Gesundheitseinrichtungen

We work towards the goal to give every baby the best start in life.

Info

EFCNI is the first pan-European organistation to represent the interests of preterm infants, ill newborns and their families. It brings together parents, healthcare experts from various disciplines, scientists, politicians and other stakeholders, with the common goal of reducing preterm birth rates and improving long-term health of preterm and newborn children. Our vision is to ensure that every baby born receives the best start in life - independently of the place of birth. For reaching this, we encourage all the stakeholders to implement European-wide harmonized standards of care for newborn health. To achieve our aims, we combine the strengths of all those involved in pregnancy, childbirth and child health.

  • Every family deserves access to reliable information, support and the tools to give their baby the best possible start in life. However, finding essential information in a family's native language can often be challenging, especially during critical moments like navigating the NICU. That’s why we are proud to introduce Neopedia – a global initiative created in collaboration with parent organisations and healthcare professionals around the world. Neopedia will provide trusted, multilingual resources for families of preterm and sick babies, so no one feels lost on this journey. 🌍 At launch, Neopedia will offer information in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. More languages to come! On Neopedia, families can access: ✅ Expert-proven, easy-to-understand information ✅ Multilingual support ✅ Advice and insights from a global parent community ✅ Links to national resources for ongoing support This platform is designed to empower parents with the knowledge they need while fostering a global sense of community and reassurance during and after their NICU experience. We invite you to join us in this mission and help spread the word to those who could benefit. Sign up today to stay informed about the launch in Spring 2025 👉 bit.ly/neopedia Our heartfelt thanks to all the amazing parents on the Neopedia Core Expert Group for helping bring this project to life 💜 APREM Bliss Canadian Premature Babies Foundation Bundesverband "Das frühgeborene Kind" e.V. • 🍂🦠Autumn is in full swing, and another Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) season is just around the corner again. #RSV is the leading cause of bronchiolitis and one of the primary drivers of infant hospitalisations. 👪An RSV infection affects not only the child itself but the entire family, as demonstrated in our #ResQFamily study, which examined the impact of RSV hospitalisations on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of families in France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden. 💭Did you know that many parents reported feelings of guilt for not preventing the infection as well as emotional distress due to separation from other family members during the hospital stay? Beyond these emotional challenges, the illness also caused professional disruptions: On average, employed parents missed around 29 hours of work due to their child’s hospitalisation. 📕Our 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐐 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞, written by RSV expert 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐢𝐥-𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐫 & EFCNI Head of Scientific Affairs and Research and ResQ Family project manager 𝐃𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐓𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫, highlights why it is important to address the full RSV burden on families so that new #RSVPrevention strategies can shape public health in Europe in the future. 👉Thought Leadership Article: https://lnkd.in/dPRD-VH8 💡More campaign material to raise awarenes for RSV: https://lnkd.in/dgcBZKHn 🤝🔉Looking ahead, it is now essential to ensure that all infants receive timely and uninterrupted access to RSV prevention measures through well-crafted policy recommendations, education for healthcare professionals, and increased #RSVAwareness among parents. #EveryBreathCounts #ResearchProject #Advocacy

  • 😊Our #ResQFamily project is in the final stages and we came together again for one last time with our expert group for an update and summary of the project. Together, we discussed the key findings of the study, reviewed our campaign materials and agreed to continue raising awareness in the future for the comprehensive impact of #RSV on affected families with a united call to action: severe RSV infections must be prevented from the outset by raising awareness for the disease and advancing prevention measures.    🦠With another RSV season just around the corner, it's important to keep the discussion going about our study findings and their relevance for improving future care for affected families.    📄Take a look at our Communication Toolkit, available in all project languages, and download the campaign material for free: https://lnkd.in/dgcBZKHn     👉 Want to learn more about ResQ Family? • ‼𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐐 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞‼  🫁23 October marks #LungHealthDay2024, which focuses on promoting lung and respiratory health. This day is a good opportunity to raise awareness about the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), which is one of the leading causes of hospitalisations among infants and children. While most RSV cases are mild, it’s impossible to predict which infants could get seriously ill and end up in hospital. This is because the course of the disease is unpredictable. Moreover, RSV-related hospitalisations can be associated with a significant burden on the entire family, leading to considerable impacts of the health-related quality of life. 🔊On this awareness day, we are more than excited to announce our latest press release, highlighting the significant impact of #RSV on families of hospitalised children, based on findings from the EFCNI #ResQFamily study. 👪Among many other things, the study reveals that hospitalisations of children due to RSV severely affect the emotional well-being of families, with many parents experiencing anxiety and feelings of guilt. Find the press release here: https://lnkd.in/gsEFe5eH 🤝💙Let’s work together for the lungs of those most vulnerable! Increased awareness of RSV prevention measures, such as the latest STIKO recommendation in Germany for passive immunisation of children under two years of age, are crucial steps in preventing long-term complications. #RSVAwareness #EveryBreathCounts #RSVPrevention #PreventionIsKey © Shutterstock

  • 💜 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 🗝️ In light of 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 in the United States, it is crucial to acknowledge the fundamental role of health literacy in advancing health equity. For parents of infants born preterm, a thorough understanding of neonatal care is essential to manage the complexities of their child's health journey. Acquiring knowledge about the unique needs of preterm babies transforms daunting experiences into manageable ones, facilitating informed decision-making and giving families confidence. EFCNI is committed to providing families with essential resources and guidance that enhance their understanding and promote empowerment throughout their experience. 👶🏽 Advocacy for health literacy as a fundamental component of family support is critical to ensuring that every family has access to the knowledge they need to thrive. 💪 ➡️ Access resources on pregnancy and preterm birth here: https://lnkd.in/dRekFTq5 #NationalHealthEducationWeek #HealthLiteracy #PretermBabies #BornTooSoon #EFCNI
