❓What really works in Digital Personalised Learning❓ We love sharing practical leading-edge evidence from our EdTech implementation research studies. So it was great to gather last week with 250 educationalists for the What Works Hub for Global Education conference 🌟 We offered insights from EdTech Hub’s three year implementation research partnership in Kenya with EIDU and Women Educational Researchers of Kenya and led by Louis Major - all focused on building evidence on Digital Personalised Learning... Rebecca Daltry's brilliant presentation explained how we combined an RCT, design-based research, A/B testing and Sandboxes - assessing learning outcomes while also understanding the complex ‘how and why’ behind the data. In summary, Digital Personalised Learning is most effective when: - It is integrated with classroom practices and aligned with curriculum 📚 - Teachers are given flexibility to use it in ways they decide will most help their students 👩🏽🏫 - There is clarity about the detail of what is actually taking place under the ‘personalisation’ label 🌟 High-trust collaboration between EdTech implementers and researchers is not simple! And so it was a bonus to hear reflections from Aidan Friedberg at EIDU and Rebecca Daltry at EdTech Hub about how to make it work well over the long-term. Effective implementation research needs implementers and researchers to: - Commit to transparent and brave communication - Adapt to different default speeds of working - Share learning and iterate together for increased impact Thanks to the What Works Hub for Global Education for an exceptional gathering! ✨ Catherine Humphrey Jemima Sinclair Ciku Mbugua Ahmad Jawad Asghar Clio Dintilhac Noam Angrist Rachel Hinton Laura Savage Luis Benveniste Tahir Andrabi. #WWHGlobalEd2024 You can read the conference paper abstract here https://lnkd.in/eByGR2mN and academic articles coming soon…

Last week, our Director of Partnerships, Tomáš Kessl, represented EIDU at the #UNGA – United Nations General Assembly in New York, immersing himself in pivotal discussions about education and social impact. It was an invaluable opportunity to connect with global leaders working tirelessly to make quality education universally accessible. The insights from UNGA underscore the significant strides being made – yet also remind us of the challenges ahead. With hundreds of millions of children still at risk of missing fundamental literacy and numeracy skills, the call to action is clear and urgent. Together, we continue to keep the debate running and strive for transformative educational solutions that will reach every learner, everywhere. #UNGA #EducationForAll #SocialImpact #EIDU
It's been an incredible experience to be in New York during UNGA for the first time and see all of the amazing work happening in the education space & social impact in general! The progress many governments, supported by social enterprises and NGOs, are making towards making quality education accessible to all is truly inspiring. But one thing that remains clear is how much work there is still to be done: hundreds of millions of children will grow up without foundational literacy and numeracy skills unless we manage to improve learning outcomes at huge scale. Thank you to TheSidebar and Euan Wilmshurst for all your efforts to make the UNGA more accessible - it was a pleasure to join the discussion with Heather Hiebsch James Gondwe Laura Brown Oyindamola Egbeyemi! Paul Atherton Jared Lee Conrad Sackey Jenna Rogers-Rafferty, MIA Ma. Contesa Pagulayan, RPm Alia Karim Seth Cochran Charlene Chen Liezl Van Riper Shelly Helgeson Jedi Azania Bukachi (Meißner) Joshin Raghubar Yifei Jefferson Chen & many others who made this intense week memorable! #unga79 #education #edtech #socialimpact

We are honored to be featured in a recent article by Dr Asyia K., Senior Program Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In her insightful piece, Asyia discusses the transformative impact of artificial intelligence in #education, from her early experiences as a maths #teacher to the present advancements in #AI technologies. Asyia points out the potential of AI to address critical learning gaps globally, and especially in low- and middle-income countries. She emphasizes how tools like those developed by EIDU can significantly enhance educational outcomes through personalized, adaptive learning solutions. Here’s what Asyia says about EIDU's impact: "AI-based solutions like EIDU are making significant strides in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, improving learning outcomes especially among low-performing students." Her reflections are a great reminder of the transformative potential of AI in empowering individual learners worldwide on a personalized level. We are proud to be part of this crucial conversation! 🔓 EIDU goes open source! Big news: We are going #opensource. Over the next three years, we’re opening up our entire platform to governments, educators, and developers around the world. Why? Because we believe that the global standard for digital education simply cannot be closed-source. We want to set a new standard for #transparency, #inclusivity and #collaboration. This initiative reflects our commitment to elevating global learning standards, and by sharing our #tech, we want to empower others to tailor and build on our platform to meet the unique needs of their communities. “Our goal has always been global impact,” as Bernd Roggendorf, our CTO and Founder gets to the heart of it. “Making our platform open source is the natural next step. Education should be accessible to everyone, and that starts with an open foundation.” We’re also thrilled to share an endorsement coming from David Hollow, Director of Research at EdTech Hub: “Research on EIDU’s platform has demonstrated a significant impact on learning outcomes at the pre-primary level in Kenya. By open-sourcing its platform, EIDU is setting a precedent for transparency and collaborative development, essential for transforming education systems globally. We hope this will motivate collaborative development among organisations using technology to improve high-quality education.” This leap forward wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our partners. As we are just getting started, we are actively looking for more partners to help make this vision a reality. Want to #join us?
