🔓 EIDU goes open source! Big news: We are going #opensource. Over the next three years, we’re opening up our entire platform to governments, educators, and developers around the world. Why? Because we believe that the global standard for digital education simply cannot be closed-source. We want to set a new standard for #transparency, #inclusivity and #collaboration. This initiative reflects our commitment to elevating global learning standards, and by sharing our #tech, we want to empower others to tailor and build on our platform to meet the unique needs of their communities. “Our goal has always been global impact,” as Bernd Roggendorf, our CTO and Founder gets to the heart of it. “Making our platform open source is the natural next step. Education should be accessible to everyone, and that starts with an open foundation.” We’re also thrilled to share an endorsement coming from David Hollow, Director of Research at EdTech Hub: “Research on EIDU’s platform has demonstrated a significant impact on learning outcomes at the pre-primary level in Kenya. By open-sourcing its platform, EIDU is setting a precedent for transparency and collaborative development, essential for transforming education systems globally. We hope this will motivate collaborative development among organisations using technology to improve high-quality education.” This leap forward wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our partners. Today at the Google.org Impact Summit, we are proud to showcase the incredible progress made through our generative AI project. Our dedicated team have been working closely with Google experts over the past six months to empower teachers with personalised AI-generated lesson plans. The early results are promising, and we’re exploring ways to scale this impactful work in Kenya and beyond! Last week, we attended #AIED 2024 in #Recife, Brazil, marking our third publication at this influential conference. Our Aidan Friedberg presented the research on "Learner Agency in Personalised Content Recommendation: Investigating Its Impact in Kenyan Pre-primary Education," which was nominated for best paper in the late-breaking results track. Our study highlights the positive effects of allowing pre-primary learners in Kenya to choose their learning content, demonstrating significant improvements in literacy and numeracy. We are thrilled to announce yet another significant milestone in our mission to enhance educational opportunities across Kenya: EIDU has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with all 10 counties of the Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) to implement our digital learning program. This will benefit as much as 150,000 pre-primary learners in this vital region.  This collaboration marks a groundbreaking initiative to bring our digital learning solutions to more and more learners, an economic bloc dedicated to transformative growth and development. By integrating our education platform into public schooling, we aim to empower young learners with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. Each county in the FCDC will benefit from tailored educational programs designed to meet the unique needs of their communities. This extensive rollout underscores our commitment to making quality education accessible to every learner – regardless of their location. We are very excited to see the partnership with the Governments of Kenya flourishing the educational landscape further. We are very excited to share some encouraging words from Hon. Isaac Mwaura regarding EIDU's digital learning initiatives: During a recent visit to Menengai Integrated Primary School, the Spokesman of the Kenyan government applauded our partnership and efforts in digitising education and optimising learning outcomes for already over 250,000 pre-primary learners across Kenya. Hon. Mwaura recognised the demonstrated scalability of the EIDU programme and expressed government support for scaling it beyond pre-primary grades. This signifies a monumental step!
