🚀 The Conference of the European Divorce Network has officially kicked off in Berlin! 🎇 We’re thrilled to be co-organizing this event jointly with the Hertie School , University of Duisburg-Essen and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin! Our new article is finally out! 🔎 We applied MAIHDA with SHARE data to investigate how becoming a grandparent affects cognitive functioning, particularly looking at differences across intersectional groups. ✳ We found large cognitive inequalities between intersectional groups, defined by sex/gender, migration background, education and occupation. Such differences were mainly due to additive effects, although some intersectional interactions were found. 🧓 New grandparents had higher cognitive functioning after the transition, especially women. Our results show that taking an intersectional approach is fundamental to understand health inequalities, which accumulate at the intersections and throughout the life course. 👩👩👧👦 Also the important role of intergenerational relations within evergrowing diverse families. Thanks to my amazing coauthors, hopefully the first of many publications in the new Einstein Center Population Diversity at chariteberlin
