At the MFFD Roll-out celebration, FASTER-H2 was represented through the 3D-printed exhibition model of the concept. Both Andreas Dresel and Alexander Horn (one of the project leaders) joined the MFFD-project stakeholders in praising the great achievement, at the new home of the MFFD demonstrator in ZAL, Hamburg. FASTER-H2 activities focus on integrating H2 systems into the rear fuselage, and generally speaking is one of the outlook topics being discussed when it comes to new integrative approaches for the fuselage. The 3D-printed exhibition model of the concept (by ZAL protospace) is ready to travel to be shown to the interested public and specialists community! #FASTERH2 #MFFD #3DModel #CleanAviation

As one of the project's partners we had the incredible opportunity to connect at this event with fellow pioneers like Miguel Angel Castillo, PhD, share insights, and celebrate the achievement. A huge thank you to York Roth, Ralf Herrmann, Piet Woelcken for your trust in our competencies throughout the last years and for hosting us. #CleanAviation #MFFD #ZAL #Innovation #FutureOfFlight #AviationIndustry #Hamburg
📢 [#CleanSky2 Project News]: On behalf of Clean Aviation, I am thrilled to have participated in what I can proudly say is an excellent example of European #Innovation and #Collaboration—the Roll-out Celebration of the MultiFunctional Fuselage Demonstrator (#MFFD) in Hamburg, #Germany. 🇩🇪 Among the MFFD’s achievements, I would highlight the following: 🚀 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭: We have produced an 8-meter thermoplastic fuselage barrel, setting a new standard in aerospace technology. 🌿 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: Reduced #Fuselage weight by 1 tonne, boosting fuel efficiency and supporting a cleaner #AviationIndustry. Plus, our materials are more #Recyclable. 🔧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭: Projected to increase the fuselage build rate to 70-100 per month, up from the current 60 per month, to meet the growing global demand for #AirTravel. 💡 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: With €68 million from the European Commission, we have developed over 40 #Technologies and secured 11 #Patents, strengthening Europe’s leadership in aerospace innovation. 🤝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: The MFFD project is a prime example of European collaboration, involving 11 Members & Core Partners, all aligned with Airbus and partner R&T strategies. 💪 𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: Over 110 dissemination items and key contributions to major conferences ensure our innovations benefit the entire #AerospaceCommunity. This project is a flagship demonstrator of the #CleanSky2 Programme, showcasing our commitment to #Sustainable and #Efficient aviation. 🌍✈️ 🤝 Thanks to #CTO Sabine Klauke for this celebration, which from my point of view was a great success with the participation of key stakeholders of the MFFD project, and most importantly, all the teams that were involved and worked hard during all these years to make this MFFD project happen and a true success — Sabine Klauke, Sven Herrmann, York Roth, and Ralf Herrmann from Airbus; Jens Standfuss from Fraunhofer IWS and Simon Kothe from Fraunhofer IFAM; Roland Gerhards from ZAL Center of Applied Aeronautical Research; Joost Koopman from GKN Aerospace; Lars Larsen, Manuel Endrass, and Antje Stamm, MSc. from DLR Institute of Structures and Design; Jakob Ring from Saab; and Miguel Angel Castillo, PhD from Aernnova Aerospace. 👏 🤝 Thanks to Maria Calvo Blanco and Jimmy Tchen, my colleagues at Clean Aviation, for their continuous support in this great success. 👏 At Clean Aviation, alongside our members, we remain fully committed to continuously developing disruptive technologies that are crucial to support the #EU in achieving #NetZero by 2050. 🌍💪 #Sustainability #MFFD #CleanSky2

Wrapping up the third in-person technical workshop of SMR ACAP WP3, held from May 27th to 29th at the ZAL in Hamburg. It was incredibly productive and energizing to have everyone together in person. This workshop was particularly special as it was the first one under the leadership of Nathalie Reich. Her structured guidance has seamlessly built on our previous efforts, and we're excited to see how WP3, which focuses on ecological target definition, evaluation, and integration, will continue to evolve. Thank you also to the WP1 participants that joined us for a session! With this momentum, the work package is set to pick up speed again, driving forward our technical goals and collaborative efforts. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this workshop a success! 🌍✈️ Successful Q2 2024 UP Wing meetings at TU Delft! 🛫🔬 We are delighted to announce that the Q2 2024 meetings of the "General Assembly" and "Project Management Committee" were successfully held, generously hosted by Delft University of Technology. These meetings marked significant milestones for our project, reinforcing our commitment to advancing decarbonised aviation, and they are important to strengthen the relationship between the consortium members from Industry, SMEs, RTOs, and Academia. The main goal of the Clean Aviation UP Wing project is to investigate key technology enablers for the next generation of ultra-high aspect-ratio wing for Short/Medium-Range aircraft. Investigated topics include integrated overall aircraft design, aerodynamics, structural and systems design, load control technologies, as well as advanced composite manufacturing. During the meeting we had a chance to visit TU Delft research facilities, where the next generation of aerospace engineers is researching and learning about new aerospace technologies such as novel aerospace materials, automated manufacturing of advanced composite structures, electrified propulsion, and novel aircraft configurations. Thank you to Jurij Sodja from TU Delft for the exceptional hospitality and to all attendees for their valuable contributions. 🛩️ #CleanAviation #TUdelft #UPWingProject
