Euro Plant Tray eG was officially presented with the #BGIInnovationAward at the BGI Association Conference in Frankfurt. Managing Director Andrea Kirchhoff summarised the decision to award the prize: ‘For us, the decisive factor in awarding the innovation prize to Euro Plant Tray was not that a reusable tray had already been developed for each individual pot size and number. Rather, it was important to us that a #CrossindustryApproach had been taken to implement such a #PioneeringSystem and that EPT had taken the lead in this endeavour.’ 'Millions of disposable trays and plastic pots are tarnishing the image of the green sector', says Andrea Kirchhoff. ‘There are an estimated 500 to 700 million disposable trays in circulation in Europe. With the first 1.5 million EPT trays in circulation by spring 2025, 250 tonnes of single-use plastic waste will be avoided in the first year alone. A figure which could rise to 40,000 tonnes - so there is still a lot to do.’  By awarding the #InnovationPrize to Euro Plant Tray, the #BGI wants to set an example and encourage other market participants to take this important step towards conserving resources and reducing waste, as the EU is calling for a 100% reusable solution for B2B transport packaging from 2030. The members of EPT would like to express their sincere thanks for the motivating words and the award. During the “Day of Horticulture” organized by Zentralverband Gartenbau , Euro Plant Tray eG was awarded with the Innovation price of Germany’s Ministry of Food & Agriculture. During yesterday's General Assembly of Euro Plant Tray eG the EPT Supervisory Board was reappointed in accordance with the Articles of Association. We congratulate Jutta Lehmann (HornbachBaumarkt AG), Christian Müller (mvb plants worldwide GmbH), Joerg Hoppe💯 (Dehner Gartencenter GmbH), Thomas Berthold (FM Group BV), Frank Zeiler (BGI eG), Patrick Dekker (VGB) and Thomas Buchenau (EPS GmbH) on their election. Already on 23.8.2024 Rupert Fey, Felix Thun-Hohenstein and Rick Van Der Eijk were appointed as board members of Euro Plant Tray eG.
