Briefings included project details, as well as additional information on registering to bid on contracts, systems the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers uses to manage projects, our commitment to site safety and more! Engaging with industry is key to the success of our program. By the end of FY24 we will have awarded roughly $800 million in contracts and we’re looking at more than $670 million in construction placement in FY25. The US Army Corps of Engineers proudly joined United States Army Special Operations Command and U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz partners to break ground recently on new annex facilities at Smith Barracks in Baumholder, Germany. The annexes are part of the larger ongoing effort to ensure the Baumholder Military Community has the high-quality and modern facilities it needs to support incoming Special Operation Forces moving from USAG Stuttgart to USAG Rheinland-Pfalz. Lt. Gen. William H. “Butch” Graham, Jr. today assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and became the Army’s 56th Chief of Engineers during a three-part ceremony at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall’s Conmy Hall. Graham assumed command from outgoing USACE commander Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon during the change of command ceremony hosted by Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Randy A. George. Immediately prior to the change of command ceremony, Graham was promoted to lieutenant general. Following the ceremony, Spellmon, a 1986 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York, retired from the Army after a 38-year active-duty career. Also in attendance were Secretary of the Army Christine E. Wormuth; Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Michael Connor; Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment Rachel Jacobson; prior USACE commanders and assistant secretaries of the Army for Civil Works; and several of Spellmon’s fellow USMA classmates. The US Army Corps of Engineers proudly joined with our Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), U.S. Army Garrison Benelux and other partners yesterday to celebrate the completion of the new Brussels Unit School, cutting the ribbon and celebrating with students and faculty. The school serves more than 270 pre-k through high school students. Most students are Americans, but the school also serves international students from more than 25 countries. Check out the latest photos of the great progress crews are making on the new Army Family Housing project being built at Wetzel Kaserne in Baumholder! This phase of Army Family Housing construction on Wetzel Kaserne involves building 42 three-bedroom and 10 four-bedroom townhomes along with associated infrastructure, new playgrounds and a dog park. Europe District is managing construction of the project in close coordination with our German construction partners and U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz. It is part of hundreds of millions of dollars in facilities and infrastructure that the US Army Corps of Engineers is delivering for the Baumholder Military Community to support the quality of life of families overseas. #BuildingStrong #StrongerTogether
