In a little less than a year, we've gone from an incredibly complex technological concept to incredible achievements!   🚨 We've made it to Stage 2 of SPRIND's Circular Biomanufacturing Challenge! EveryCarbon's solution to use different mixed-material biowastes for the production of bulk chemical products has secured our place in the next stage of the competition. We are proud of and thankful for the support and acknowledgement. And of course, the hefty funding of 2 Mio. € that comes with it.   We will use this to lift EveryCarbon out of the lab and into the real world. ♻ Sometimes going in circles is a way forward. The joint symposium "Towards Circularity 2024" by SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen and the VolkswagenStiftung brings together pioneers in the field of circular biotechnology who contribute to a more sustainable use of materials. The use of fewer primary resources and fewer end-of-pipe solutions will contribute significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the manufacturing industry. We look forward to meeting the other Circleminds working on the production solutions of the future. The use of secondary materials as a feedstock is a great start for more sustainable products. And yet, our EveryCarbon process takes circularity even further. When we started our journey six months ago to deliver a technology that valorises every carbon atom from almost every wet organic waste stream, it felt like we were starting from zero. But we weren't. In fact, we were most fortunate to not start at zero but instead can build an advanced and unparalleled biotechnological and thermochemical process from technologies which underwent already years of research and development. Our partners and advisors from all different fields of expertise, including engineering, chemistry and microbiology, paved our way before we even knew we would start walking. Thank you all! Conveniently, microbes already present in the sludge perform this conversion. However, this step is critical to preserve as much functionality as possible from our substrate.
