Mit 61 Männern und einer Frau hat die Betriebsfeuerwehr von Evonik am Standort Essen Goldschmidtstraße am Sonntag offiziell ihren Dienst aufgenommen.👨🚒👩🚒 Beim Tag der offenen Tür der Essener Feuerwehr überreichte Christian Kromberg, Ordnungsdezernent der Stadt Essen, die Anerkennungsurkunde an Joachim Dahm und Patrick Muhlack im Namen von Evonik und des Standortes. Die neue Feuerwehr ist mit zwei hochmodernen Großfahrzeugen ausgestattet, die speziell auf die Bedürfnisse des Chemieunternehmens zugeschnitten sind.🚒So kann das gut ausgebildete Team schnell, kompetent und sicher auf jede Situation reagieren. What makes a soccer camp unforgettable? The answer came alive at the Summer Soccer Academy in Dortmund, Germany! We had 22 young players from Bangkok's RIS Swiss Section, accompanied by their parents, who flew in for this incredible experience. The Bangkok Soccer School, established on August 8st, is supporting talents, and for these kids, this trip marked a significant milestone in their soccer journey. The week was packed with unforgettable moments—meeting their new coach, connecting with the BVB support team, building team spirit, and immersing themselves in their passion for football. Basketball was the name of the game as around thirty Evonik employees from our Mobile, AL site laced up their sneakers and hit the court for some friendly competition. With creative team names like the Has-Beens, the Periodic Dunkers, and the Gray Team, our players not only faced off against each other but also took on nearby companies. Although our Evonik teams didn’t clinch the top spot, the true victory lay in the connections made and the camaraderie built. This experience highlighted the importance of teamwork, communication, and mutual support—both on and off the court. Through our WinTwins program in collaboration with HR Special Sourcing, these scholarship holders receive customized career advice, practical work experience and a smoother transition into professional life. 🎓📈 Today we are introducing our first scholarship holder: Anna. Evonik contributes to make the automotive industry more sustainable and greener! 🚗♻️ There are about 200 kilograms of plastic in each car. About 20 kilograms of this are polyurethane foam. The automotive industry is facing the great challenge of recycling the materials. Currently, only 19% of plastic from discarded cars is recycled. Evonik Polyurethane Additives is now participating in the RACE project (Recycling Automotive Plastics in a Circular Economy, 2024-2027) to recycle up to 75% of plastics from cars and turn waste into valuable resources. This initiative with project partners goes beyond recycling and aims to create a sustainable infrastructure that makes it profitable and efficient to reuse these materials. Better sorting, decomposition and recycling of mixed automotive plastics is expected to lead to significant CO₂ reductions and will help the automotive industry comply with the upcoming strict EU regulations. Evonik will contribute its expertise in the development of PU additives based on renewable materials for car seats and dashboards, which are easier to recycle. 🚗♻️ #Evonik #Sustainability #REcycling #Cars #Autmotive #Polyurethanes

Engineering Meets HR! Discover how Alex, UNITECH student, found a unique path at Evonik by combining her study "Automotive Engineering" with HR at Evonik's Nutrition and Care team. 👤Alex 💼 HR Intern for Nutrition and Care 📖 Currently studying for my Master’s in Automotive Engineering 🎙️What was your highlight so far at Evonik? 👤 Working with my team! I really appreciate how they have welcomed me into the group and made me feel at home. I think, with any job, it is important to have good relationships with your supervisors and co-workers. I couldn’t have wished for a better group of people to work with. 🎙️ How did your background in automotive engineering lead you to an internship in HR at Evonik? 👤 I am a UNITECH student, in the 23/24 cohort, and as Evonik sponsors the program, I ended up here! When looking at my internship possibilities, I was looking to expand my horizons, and not just focus on the technical aspects of an engineering degree. For the future, I wanted to set myself apart from the crowd and demonstrate that I have both hard and soft skills to any future employer. This is when I came across the opportunity to work in HR within Evonik. 🎙️ In what ways do your engineering skills directly impact your role in HR? 👤 My ability to structure and see things in a logical way has helped me organise projects within HR in maybe a different way than those who do not come from an engineering background. My experience in analysing data also helps, as I can see patterns and trends to help back up ideas and theories. But I think working in HR has also impacted my engineering skills. Before, my thought process was that most problems would have a solution, and that this was pretty straightforward. But I have come to learn that not every solution possible fits every problem, and maybe there isn’t a perfect solution at all! It’s all about trying to find what fits best for everyone. 🎙️Could you share a specific example of how you’ve contributed to be #PartofSomethingSpecial at Evonik? 👤There are many things that I am a part of that will hopefully have an impact on the company, but my support on Intern Hiring within Care Solutions may be the one with the longest lasting legacy! I have been meeting with candidates and finding out what they are looking for, to match them up to the right internship for them within the Business Line. Better on the road! 🚗 Since the 1920s, roads have increasingly been built with asphalt Instead of pavement or concrete. 🚧 It was therefore fitting that Evonik's predecessor company, Th. Goldschmidt AG, was able to offer a helpful additive for this in 1949: the “F4 bonding agent”. The additive improves the composition of road surfaces and prevents road and frost damage.
