New EXCELLERAT P2 success story 🏆 High-fidelity simulation of turbulent flows with high Reynolds numbers is a complex challenge. To address this, researchers at KTH Royal Institute of Technology are advancing an Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) workflow in Neko, a state-of-the-art Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solver. AMR dynamically refines the computational grid during runtime, optimizing resolution where it is needed most. This approach reduces computational costs while maintaining high accuracy. Key benefits: ✅ Controlled computational error at optimal cost ✅ Reduced mesh size and computational requirements ✅ Simplified meshing for complex flow simulations First results from AMR simulations using Nek5000 are expected in mid-2025, with continued developments in CPU and GPU versions into 2026. Happy #SimulationFriday! Check out this new direct numerical simulation of a starting drone rotor. High-order (7th) simulation with #Nek5000 and adaptive mesh refinement: 1 385 000 spectral elements in the grid. The video shows vortices identified using the lambda-2 criterion. It was produced by remote rendering on the NHR-FAU cluster Fritz with #Paraview 5.13. Kudos to Timofey Mukha and KTH Royal Institute of Technology! https://lnkd.in/e5RAAJV5
