A clear message at EXPO REAL 2024. Once again this year, Dr. Gertrud Rosa Traud Chief Economist at Helaba, provided an outlook on developments in the economic landscape at the EXPO REAL FORUM. In her keynote speech, she discussed the reasons for the ongoing recession. The key takeaways: 💰 Government spending vs. investment – growing government spending is crowding out private investment, leading to a deepening recession. 🌍 Global power shift – while the US and China are wrestling for economic supremacy, the eurozone has been losing importance in world trade for years. ⚡ China's challenges – growth of “only” 4-5% and problems in the real estate market and demographics are putting the country under pressure.
