Companies' demands for carbon-free energy are increasing. Will access to nuclear energy become a driver of location decisions? At New York Climate Week at the end of September, 14 of the world’s largest financial institutions pledged their support for the development of more nuclear energy. Meanwhile Google, Amazon and Microsoft have all announced they will soon be using nuclear energy to power their facilities. There are currently 64 nuclear reactors under construction around the world, with a further 432 approved or planned for development. A large portion of those are planned or proposed for development in Asia. Countries with access to nuclear energy will become increasingly attractive for energy-intensive projects such as manufacturing, data centers or hydrogen production. Celebrating the launch of the ASEAN Regional Investment Action Plan 2025-2030! Launched this week at the ASEAN Investment Forum 2024 in Vientiane, Laos, the ASEAN Regional Investment Action Plan 2025-2030 was the highlight of the event. For the first time, ASEAN will present itself as a unified investment destination across key sector value chains to support the region's green transition, post-pandemic recovery and sustainable development. This approach capitalizes on investors' growing interest in regional ecosystems rather than individual national markets. The Action Plan provides a new roadmap for promoting and attracting investment to ASEAN collectively and has been endorsed by individual ASEAN member states. FDI Center is incredibly proud to have developed the Action Plan on behalf of ESCAP and the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Investment and looks forward to supporting the enhanced promotion of ASEAN as a single investment location. During the event, FDI Center's managing director, Andreas Dressler moderated a number of sessions including the panel "Green Economy Investments in ASEAN: Trends, Opportunities, Challenges & Strategies" alongside an esteemed panel Kanokwan Marshall, Masni Muhammad, Wirat Tatsaringkansakul and Paranee Adulyapichet pictured below.
