Daniel Modaour’s journey from chemistry to the tech world is nothing short of inspiring. With a BSc in Chemistry from McGill University, Daniel decided to pivot into a rewarding career in tech. Not long ago, coding felt like an unfamiliar language, but his determination and the right opportunity sparked a transformative shift. Meet Jaspal Singh, a Cloud Engineer who joined FDM in November 2022, bringing a strong foundation from Cambrian College with a Diploma in Mobile Application Development. Jaspal was part of our IT Operations Practice, where his training in Java, SQL and various DevOps tools set the stage for success. Jaspal’s hands-on experience with real-life DevOps scenarios during POD work proved invaluable, especially when tackling Cloud assignments. One standout moment was learning Terraform, a skill that not only became pivotal in Jaspal's role but also led to his first certification, which was a key topic during his interview. He is currently on client assignment with an insurance client as a Cloud Engineer, he’s contributing to a significant migration project, moving everything to the cloud. With expertise across AWS, GCP and Azure, Jaspal’s ability to transfer skills between platforms has been a major asset. Even though his training included building pipelines with Jenkins, Jaspal quickly adapted to using Azure DevOps, where he manages tasks, builds pipelines and handles version control, all within one platform. Jaspal’s journey from DevOps to Cloud Engineering is a powerful reminder of the importance of resilience, continuous learning, and seizing every chance to prove your skills. Meet Tamanna Tasneem, a Loan Trading Analyst who joined FDM in 2021 after completing her Master’s in Finance from Concordia University. As part of our Risk, Regulation and Compliance Practice, Tamanna has applied her expertise in interest rates, Excel VBA and Power BI to excel in her role. Tamanna plays a key role in loan trading, focusing on minimizing risks associated with large loans through collaboration with other banks. She manages a portfolio of 170 trades, skilfully navigating the process of buying and selling loans, particularly par loans, those traded at or near their full value. Operating in the middle office, she works directly with banks to determine which lenders are entering or exiting a deal. Her proficiency with tools like Excel and Power BI enables her to visualize data, create macros and seamlessly manage trades on platforms such as Star Century Clearpar. In her role, collaboration is essential as she partners with both front and back offices, as well as the IT team, to ensure smooth operations and accurate reporting. Tamanna appreciates the open culture of her client assignment, where career growth is supported, communication flows freely and a healthy work-life balance is maintained.
