They are all unique and have their own meaning.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿! 🏰 Last month, the Amtsberg in Wittenburg transformed into a lively medieval village for the annual "Burgmannenlager" event. Visitors were transported back in time, with historical reenactments, skilled artisans, and thrilling knightly tournaments filling the air with excitement! From hand-forged weapons to traditional medieval cuisine, the market offered a unique glimpse into the past. Families, history buffs, and curious adventurers enjoyed live music, storytelling, and immersive performances that brought the spirit of the Middle Ages to life. In the museum, historical aspects took center stage: The history of flour and traditional grain processing were highlighted. Visitors could try their hand at grinding grain themselves. We would like to thank everyone—vendors, performers, and guests—for making this year’s event such a success! Your enthusiasm and participation helped create an unforgettable atmosphere. We’re already looking forward to welcoming you back next year for even more medieval fun! Until then, may your shields stay strong and your spirits high. 🏹

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 – 𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹! That’s why SternMaid dedicated an entire day to them at our museum. It was a day of wonder – kids explored, learned, created and played together Ronny Saß, Director Operations at SternMaid, kicked off the event in the morning with a clear message: Today is all about the kids having lots of fun. Dressed in Ötzi fan club outfits – related to our museum’s unique replica of Ötzi the Iceman – there was plenty to discover during a treasure hunt through the museum. Equipped with clipboards and pens, children and adults alike were amazed by the stories shared by our museum colleagues. Marion, Tina, and Karin clearly enjoyed answering the many questions from the kids. Can you guess what they were particularly fascinated about? That’s right, Ötzi. The morning continued with a variety-filled programme. In the creative craft corner, children painted small flour sacks and cans, or coloured pictures. The handmade bracelets made great keepsakes. The children enthusiastically ground flour on millstones, surprised by the effort it required. Another highlight, in keeping with the European Football Championship, was a table soccer game and a goal wall. A delicious buffet conveniently provided by nearby “Landgasthof zur Mühle” completed the morning. The children were thrilled, and some of them had so much fun that they said they wanted to celebrate her birthday at the museum. It was our heartfelt desire to give the children a fantastic morning. We thoroughly enjoyed it and are happy that the children had such a great time. We extend our sincere thanks to our museum colleagues and all the helpers for their support.

𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Well that was a surprise: Our installation was honoured again! Thanks to great teamwork. Here’s the story behind it: Last year we opened our new high-tech showroom together with Bühler Group. The goal was to make the hidden steps in a wheat mill visible, to enable to feel the energy of modern industrial production with all senses. We decided to commission an innovative installation by an interdisciplinary team of talented experts and artists. The astounding result is a wall consisting of 80 moving surfaces that are individually controlled by motors. Their gentle, natural movement modulates the daylight in the room and evokes memories of mill blades or flowing mill streams. In the interplay between the movement of the kinetic surfaces, the video projection and a sound montage, the experience of the industrial mill is elevated into the abstract and conveyed emotionally. During the narrative, the individual elements of the installation intertwine so skilfully that the boundaries between the analogue and the digital become blurred. From the first moment, we ourselves were captivated by the result of the teamwork. The concept for the new Milling Room was developed jointly by museum Curator Dr. Oliver Seifert, architect Carsten Falkenberg, production studio URBANSCREEN, LYNX Media Systems GmbH, Bühler Group, and Mühlenchemie GmbH & Co KG. We were thrilled that this innovative presentation concept won the Grand Prize of the Video Mapping Awards 2024 at the Video Mapping Festival at the Gare Saint Sauveur in Lille. We were even more excited now to hear that the installation was also honoured with the European Design Awards Award in Gold in the category Digital Installation in Naples. We would like to thank everyone involved for the excellent cooperation, and hope to be able to share this special experience with many visitors in the future. You can visit the new mill room every 1st and 3rd Saturday and every Sunday from 12 to 5 pm. For more information on our FlourWorld Museum see: https://lnkd.in/eSaskiPj

𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀, 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰, 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀! 𝗔𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. Last Saturday we welcomed over 100 invited guests to the FlourWorld Museum for a special event. A reception at the Museum was followed by a high-calibre concert of the Mecklenburg-Near Pomerania Festspiele that was truly a star turn. For many years the Wywiol family has sponsored this outstanding concert series, and the star of this evening was pianist extraordinaire Kit Armstrong. Volkmar Wywiol, founder of the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe and the Museum, welcomed the guests and remarked on the Museum’s long and close relationship with the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: “Flour and music are staples of humanity.” Kit Armstrong joined us at the Museum before the concert in the nearby St. Bartholomew church, and drew an interesting parallel: “When Mr. Wywiol said that the flour sacks are art, I couldn’t help but think of the history of music. From today’s perspective we think that music has always been pure artistic expression. But that is not the case. Music always needed listeners, patrons, and social functions in order to develop. Flour sacks aren’t just marketing vehicles, they symbolize life. And likewise, music is not just artistic expression, it also always contains messages.” As you can see he’s good with words, just as he is with music. Now 32, he started playing piano and composing at five years of age. He opened the concert with the words “Piano music made one of its greatest leaps in the age of the Enlightenment.” The Enlightenment was marked by a striving for clarity and reason. “Complexity gave way to what was demonstrable – emotional expression.” These words were reflected in his performance. The public was dazzled, not just by the technical mastery with which he effortlessly played demanding pieces from memory, without sheet music, but even more by the emotional depth he put into each piece. His performance of music by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven was a feast for the senses. His rendition of Beethoven’s famous Moonlight Sonata was the emotional high point of the evening, and the public rewarded his efforts with standing ovations.
