While preparing for Safetronic 2024, I was able to follow the conversation between Prof. Dr. Mario Trapp, director of Fraunhofer IKS, and some committee members (Thomas Frese, Stefan Kriso, Peter Lascych) about this year's Safety Analysis session at Safetronic. The different perspectives and points of view were very exciting. I am already looking forward to seeing how these aspects will be viewed by the participants at the conference in November. I particularly liked the closing statement by Peter Lascych, which I would like to share here. Busy week for me and my colleague Dr. Florian Geissler: I as speaker and Florian as coordinator of the Munich Quantum Valley consortium K7-QACI: Quantum Algorithms for Applications, Cloud & Industry, we attended the annual meeting of the MQV in Eichstätt with a significant number of contributions: - on Monday, I started into the week with giving a public talk "Wird die Pizza zukünftig mit Hilfe von Quantencomputern ausgeliefert?" - presenting here also for the first time our "Quantum zoo" to the public - a demonstrator for kids to enjoy constructing quantum circuits and #quantumcomputing - during the week, I presented then the highlights of our consortium, and Florian the highlights of our cross-sectional theme on benchmarking quantum computers including the three paper awards that the consortium won at the #IEEEQuantumWeek: https://lnkd.in/dst3eBRt by our colleagues from Fraunhofer AISEC, our work https://lnkd.in/d6fPCYw6 together with Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), and our work https://lnkd.in/dD4t773T together with Fraunhofer IISB and Technische Universität München - I had also the possibility to show some of our advances in quantum algorithms and #QML: https://lnkd.in/dzH3hdBw on understanding impacts of noise and error mitigation on the HHL algorithm, https://lnkd.in/dqfhiFgr on understanding data encoding influences on QCNNs, and https://lnkd.in/evdn2WmX on the impact of hyperparameters on quantum kernels - we then concluded the week with a good discussion on which application-driven benchmarks we would like to realize in the MQV and a presentation of our Bavarian lighthouse project Bench-QC - Application-driven benchmarking of quantum computers - given by Johannes Oberreuter This is was a very intensive and fruitful meeting - many thanks to the organizers for the once more very excellent organization.
