Congratulations: The #HAPPENING research project has been honoured with the Heat Pump Award hosted by the European Heat Pump Association 🎉 The project focuses on #retrofitting existing multi-family buildings to improve the efficiency of #heatpump systems. Fraunhofer ISE is responsible for #performance #evaluation and smart control. We process the measurement data, calculate performance indicators and visualize the data for detailed analysis. Nächste Woche findet die Jahrestagung des Forschungsverbunds Erneuerbare Energien (FVEE) im Umweltforum Berlin und online statt. Unter dem Motto „Die #Energiewende mit Forschung beschleunigen“ diskutieren die Teilnehmenden, wo die effizientesten Ansatzpunkte dafür liegen. Das ISE ist vertreten durch André Sternberg, der am Mittwoch, 09. Oktober, um 09:00 Uhr über „Stoffliche Energieträger und internationale Energiepartnerschaften“ spricht. Neuer Bereichsleiter #Wasserstofftechnologien 🌟 Wir freuen uns, dass Dr. Elias Frei zum 1. Oktober 2024 die Leitung des Bereichs Wasserstofftechnologien am Fraunhofer ISE übernommen hat. Dr. Elias Frei war zuvor in führenden Positionen bei der BASF SE tätig und bringt langjährige Erfahrung in der Katalyseforschung und der chemischen Produktion mit. Er betont: »Wasserstoff ist die Zukunft – er bildet die stoffliche Grundlage für den globalen Handel mit erneuerbaren Energien. Dies ermöglicht die Transformation zu einer klimaneutralen Industrie, Mobilität und Energiewirtschaft.« Der Bereich Wasserstofftechnologien arbeitet an innovativen Lösungen entlang der gesamten #Wasserstoff-Wertschöpfungskette – von der #Elektrolyse über #Brennstoffzellen bis hin zu nachhaltigen #Syntheseprodukten. Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE will demonstrate the design of membrane electrode assemblies (#MEA) for electrolysis and mobile fuel cells that can be manufactured using screen printing or slot die processes with commercially available materials. The exhibit – consisting of differently manufactured MEAs for PEM fuel cells and electrolyzers – can serve as a guide for roll-to-roll manufacturing processes. MEA manufacturers, stack manufacturers, coating system providers and material suppliers: Find out how it is possible to achieve flexible catalyst-coated membrane (#CCM) production and process development that can be adapted to different materials. New study explores #Colombia's potential for large-scale green #hydrogen production On behalf of BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. and World Energy Council, we analyzed the production and supply costs of hydrogen in and from Colombia. Suitable sites for wind and solar parks were identified and paired with potential hydrogen and Power-to-X (#PtX) hubs, considering CO2 sources, water and infrastructure. Besides the technological conditions, environmental and social criteria were also considered. The authors identified three promising regions where green electricity can be used to produce hydrogen and its derivatives particularly efficiently: Cartagena/Barranquilla, La Guajira, Valle del Cauca. Amazing days at EU-PVSEC, where nearly every aspect of PV was covered. I had the pleasure of delivering a talk on my PhD topic—perovskite/perovskite/silicon triple-junction cells—a technology still in its early stages but full of potential. On this fantastic topic,I very much enjoyed the insightful talk by Ulrich W. Paetzold as well as the plenary talk on the EU project TRIUMPH by Hariharsudan Sivaramakrishnan Radhakrishnan where he discussed some of the exciting results from our project TRIUMPH Horizon Europe Project. I’m also extremely proud of the achievements of my colleagues at Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE especially Oussama ER-RAJI for presenting the 31.5% efficient perovskite/silicon dual-junction cells. The main highlight for me: The inspiring Women in PV session. A big thank you to the organizing team for creating such an engaging and interactive event.
