⚙️💻 Did you know? You can use the #FVAWorkbench software for gearbox design and analysis to accurately calculate the effective contact ratio instead of the theoretical one. This enables more precise gear analysis and enhanced NVH performance. 💡 At cylindrical gear designs, a sufficient contact ratio is decisive for a harmonious and uniform tooth mesh with low gear mesh excitation. Typically, only the theoretical contact ratio is calculated and is used as a dimension of meshing quality. Under load the center distance can change significantly due to deformations and bearing clearances, which also changes the actual contact ratio. In addition, flank modifications, such as crownings, can reduce the tooth contact at the edges and decrease the contact ratio. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
