Wowsa! Smashing Conferences you really blew my mind! I got to meet some genuinely amazing and lovely speakers and the whole team who creates this exceptional conference. I wasn't expecting so much fun, connection, motivation and support. Vitaly Friedman, Charis Rooda, Amanda Tamny Annandale, Jarijn Nijkamp and the whole crew, you really pour so much heart into this experience. I deeply thank you for that! Some of my favorite quotes from these two lovely session days: Phil Hawksworth – "Don’t get hypnotized by the pendulum of trends. Go with the flow but find the balance points in between.“ Christoph Kolb – "Design your software to be used and put away as fast as possible with quick processes that actually help users.“ Sarah Fossheim – "The longer you wait, the deeper integrated inaccessibility gets.“ Emma Craig – "There’s an abundance of data but it’s often super fragmented. In order to innovate, a good information culture is central.“ Ryan Townsend – "Good performance is about milliseconds. It’s a war zone battling for our user’s attention with all our products calling for it.“ Oliver Schöndorfer – "One size never fits all. Know when to be expressive and when not in your typography. And finally ditch Arial as a font.“ Adam Argyle – "There’s many small, satisfying and rad CSS code snippets and micro animations that are now much more performant and smooth.“ John V Willshire – "Sometimes the world shapes us and sometimes we shape the world. Be mindful about the paths we take in our work.“ Emily Campbell – "AI is just a technology that can be powerful or wrong for the job. Always ask why you need it. For yourself or your users.“ Sophie Koonin – "It’s important to have space for experiments in your organization. And to celebrate your successes. Widely.“ Samantha Gordashko – "We need a willing to learn. From each other. How have I never considered devs as users of the work I create?“ I'm so incredibly grateful for the invite to Smashing Conf and being able to share my thoughts on "Sustainable Design for Nature and All People" with this talented crowd of attendees. And thank you for the wonderful photos Marc Thiele! It's been a blast and I now need a weekend to digest. 😀 😅

Last week I got to listen to some incredibly talented people (and also share some own thoughts) in Aarhus at UX Connect. A conference beautifully crafted by Janus Boye and Jens Hofman Hansen. Some of my favorite quotes from these two lovely days: Christina Cassens - "More than 40% of all food is being wasted. We need to create new systems to change that.“ Antonia Fedder - "Being 'othered’ sucks. Treat others like they want to be treated. Accessibility is essential for some but useful for all. “ Thorsten Jonas - "Let’s ask ourselves 'What can I do better until tomorrow, until next month, until next year?‘ “ Stefanie Kruse - "Don’t sell sustainable UX. Just do it.“ Helen Lovett, Mei Z. - "Sustainability is a journey. We need to do what’s right, not what’s easy.“ Jens Hofman Hansen - "We can do the change. Just do something. Every day.“ Gavin Colborne - "We have created a huge amount of 'Digital litter’. There should be a life-cycle to content. Including the deletion.“ Sarah Jarsbo - "Inclusion means the full ecosystem of people, including the poor, the homeless and simply everyone." Adam Voigt - "Reality is the true test of everything. (Grundtvig)" Sjur Grønningsæter - "Build fully interactive prototypes as early as possible to test your ideas." Cecilie Kalhøj Kobbelgaard - "Take the time to research the problem. Not yet the solutions. Get a full understanding of the true depth." I'm so incredibly grateful for the invite to UX Connect. I got to share many examples in my "How to bring ecological and social sustainability into your projects" talk as well as in the non-human Persona workshop that I got to host with Thorsten Jonas.
