🔋🔋🔋 RECHARGING & INSIGHTFUL DISCUSSIONS As the RECHARGE General Assembly in Brussels slowly draws to a close, we were treated to an open plenary on the implementation of the EU Battery Regulation 👇 🔹 Moderated by our new Secretary General Ilka von Dalwigk and with an overview on the timeline by Kinga Timaru-Kast from the Secretariat 🔹 Panel discussion on barriers and opportunities with - Kamila Slupek from Eurometaux (European Metals Association) - Julia Poliscanova (she/her) from Transport & Environment (T&E) - Raffaele Rossi from SolarPower Europe 🔹 Update from the European Commission with Nicolas ENCAUSSE 🔹 Update from the Joint Research Centre (JRC) with Conrad Szczuka 🔹 Discussion around the role of notified bodies by our new Member Ricardo plc with Sofia Amaral 🔹 Plus a “bonus” workshop on IED and BREF for battery gigafactories with Lighea Speziale from Seeds Consulting Key industry requirements discussed included 👇 🔹 Minimise regulatory uncertainty 🔹 Sufficient time to prepare for new rules 🔹 Less red tape (administrative burden) 🔹 Realistic targets based on real-world data 🔹 Avoid unintended negative consequences Many thanks for the open exchange - and I look forward to continuing the dialogue 👏👏👏

🔋🔋🔋 Having been a candidate to join RECHARGE at the last General Assembly in Paris six months ago, it is great to participate in this General Assembly today and tomorrow in Brussels for the first time as a Member!!!

👕🗑️♻️ It is a privilege to be able to represent GRS Service at the European Commission Textile Labelling Regulation (TLR) Revision Validation Workshop in Brussels today - and to contribute our input! We had insightful discussions around 👇 🟢 Succinct information on physical labels mainly aimed at supporting consumers’ buying decision and taking care of the product vs. broader and more detailed information for actors from the whole textile value chain through a digital product passport 🟢 Room for improvement going forward on supporting the circular economy, extended producer responsibility (EPR), producer responsibility organisations (PROs), and collection/ sorting/ repair/ reuse/ recycling further downstream through access to relevant information for this sectors 🟢 Overlap of this policy package with other EU regulations, particularly ecodesign, digital product passports (DPP), producer responsibility, and the upcoming EU Circular Economy Act + communication with consumers aimed at behaviour change around ultra-fast fashion My favourite quote of the day: “The most sustainable item of clothing is the one already in your wardrobe!” #EUTextiles #FastFashion #TextileRecycling #CircularEconomy #ProducerResponsibility
