𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 – 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 Many startups provide solutions that companies urgently need, yet they often struggle to connect. To address this, we at Hamburg Invest hosted a Partner Event to highlight the potential of venture clienting and better understand the needs on both sides. Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, CEO of Hamburg Invest welcomed all participants and highlighted the chances of Venture Clienting for Hamburg's economy: 👉 "By bringing together startups, corporations, and experts, we want to continue closing the gap between innovation and business demands, helping to drive Hamburg's ecosystem forward." Gregor Gimmy, Founder and CEO of 27pilots provided great insights on how companies can build, improve, and scale their internal venture client units. Gregor has over 22 years of experience. Before 27pilots, he worked at BMW, where he invented the venture client model and founded the BMW Startup Garage : 👉 "The process of establishing a venture client unit is more complex than one might think. It's no coincidence that the topic is also being explored academically. Find your best problems first and then look for the best startups internationally." Julia Kunstmann from OTTO Dock 6 then took the stage to explain how Otto successfully implemented Venture Clienting to optimize products and processes : 👉 "It is key that the Venture Client Unit really understands the problem of the experts in the different departments inside the company. Only then can they look for the right startup to solve the problems. To do so, they need to scan hundreds of international startups, and they need to understand their technology. This cannot be done on the side, or you will burn money instead of reducing costs." Following Julia, Timo Behrmann of Nect GmbH shared his perspective on how startups can benefit from this model to scale and grow their businesses. He illustrated this by showing how Nect Ident has worked for various large corporations, including Deutsche Telekom : 👉 "As a startup in the early stages, you can still respond to market needs, such as those of a venture client. In a strong partnership, both sides benefit equally." That's certainly valuable advice for startups! The event concluded with a dynamic panel discussion, moderated by Edda Becker from OBI Group Holding, where the speakers discussed the opportunities, challenges, and best practices for implementing Venture Clienting in Hamburg’s ecosystem. A huge thank you to Heike Tipmonta for guiding us so nicely through the evening and to all our speakers, partners, and participants for making this event a success! We've definitely gained valuable insights to guide our work and will continue strengthening Hamburg’s position as a future hub for startups and corporations. 🙌 #FutureHamburg  #VentureClienting #Innovation #Startups #HamburgInvest

Four events are set to make Hamburg the global hub for #EnergyTransition and #Sustainability in autumn 2024: In October, the Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) will have its premiere, and Hydrogen Technology Europe will be held in Hamburg for the first time. Industry events such as WindEnergy Hamburg and SMM, the maritime trade fair, will open their doors in September, enabling the industry to present concrete solutions for the energy transition. The four events in Hamburg at a glance: ⚓ SMM Hamburg (3–6 September 2024): The maritime economy is in the midst of the green transition, and advanced technologies are the enablers of this sweeping transformation. At SMM, international exhibitors will showcase the latest products and ideas paving the way into the future of shipping. Under the motto “SMM – driving the maritime transition”, the 31st SMM will focus in particular on the maritime energy transition and digital transformation. 🌬 WindEnergy Hamburg (24–27 September 2024): The goal is set! By 2030, the EU aims to generate 425 gigawatts of electricity from wind energy. The energy transition can only succeed if new wind farms are quickly connected to the grid and the electricity can be distributed as needed. WindEnergy Hamburg brings together the international wind energy industry – from plant and component manufacturers to project developers and operators through to scientists and politicians. 💧 Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe (23–24 October 2024): Produced from renewable energies, hydrogen is the central element of a climate-neutral industry. The hydrogen economy is currently experiencing a boom, opening up enormous opportunities. Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe is the world's largest supplier fair for the corresponding technologies. 🌐 Hamburg Sustainability Conference (7–8 October 2024): The new Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) will offer a trailblazing format that is intended to lead to concrete processes and initiatives. At HSC, leaders from politics, business, science and civil society are planning to implement a joint process to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Taking place at Hamburg Town Hall, the focus is on jointly developing political frameworks for action and creating breakthroughs to achieve the SDGs by 2030. While the focus tends to be on questions and problems in the context of achieving sustainability and climate targets, Hamburg as host city offers its 2024 international expert audience a platform for answers and feasible solutions. Furthermore, the city will be much more than just the stage for these high-impact industry events; it also serves as a showroom for trailblazing approaches to how cities can respond to global challenges. We are looking forward to these impactful occasions for tackling some of the biggest challenges of our time. 💯 (Photo: Hamburg Marketing / Mhoch4) #SDG #climatechange #renwables #HamburgInvest

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵! This month, our spotlight is on Helge Schritt, co-founder and CEO of MycoLutions, a company trying to revolutionise the building materials industry with their innovative use of fungal mycelium. MycoLutions develops eco-friendly materials for room acoustics and thermal insulation by harnessing the power of fungal mycelium, the root-like structure of fungi that acts as a natural binder. Their pollution-free, biodegradable products provide healthier living and working environments, utilising local agricultural and food industry waste streams.Their production process involves growing panels in various shapes using mycelium as a natural binder, enabling diverse surface textures without the use of synthetic adhesives These panels are perfect for offices, coworking spaces, studios, and other areas where sound dampening is crucial. This innovative approach helps transition away from fossil-based materials like polystyrene, contributing to a sustainable future. The startup was born from co-founder Helge Schritt's master’s thesis and inspired by Cradle-to-Cradle principles. Him and the other two founders Thies Lingner and David Gradl - long-time friends and bandmates - have transformed this academic project into a thriving business with the support of the EXIST startup grant. Officially founded in May 2023, MycoLutions is now backed by the IFB Hamburg through the InnoRampUp programme. Good luck with your further endeavours – may your success grow like fungi 😊! #Hamburg #InnovatorOfTheMonth #Sustainability photo ©MycoLutions

🛫𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴 𝗮𝘀 𝗘𝗨 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 As a major hub for the civil aviation industry, Hamburg recognised the potential of Urban Air Mobility early on. In 2018, it became one of the first EU model regions for developing civilian drone and urban air transport technologies. This initiative has fostered a vibrant ecosystem of businesses, startups, research institutions, and academia. Today, drones in Hamburg are already enhancing daily life by transporting medical samples, aiding in rescue operations, and monitoring traffic in the port. What seems futuristic to many is already being actively tested here. Central to this development is the Windrove drone network to promote the commercial use of drones in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Best cases, such as the Volocopter's cargo drone and the "FALKE" drone defense system, demonstrate the practical applications and potential of drone technology. Another promising scenario is the transport of medical goods between hospitals and labs. This new form of medical logistics is realised by Medifly .HHLA Sky GmbH has also developed a globally scalable drone system to enhance security and efficiency. With its drone management systems that can be used worldwide, it won the German Innovation Award in the Startup category. Would you like to learn more about how Hamburg is embracing the future of drones?
