How can you tell if a vessel is overloaded? Check the load line! ⚓ This critical marker, also known as the Plimsoll Line, indicates a vessel's safe loading limit. It adjusts for water temperature and salinity to keep the vessel balanced and stable on every journey. The story behind it? British lawmaker Samuel Plimsoll fought for the safety of seafarers in the 19th century, alarmed by the number of sailors dying in overloaded boats during this time. Thanks to his efforts, the Unseaworthy Ships Bill of 1876 made it a legal requirement for ships to have a load line - and we still use it today to keep seafarers safe around the world!
