Sustainability meets innovation: open-air coolers in our production Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in industrial production. At HEICO, we are constantly trying to optimise our processes accordingly and further reduce our CO² footprint. In our induction hardening shop, for example, we therefore use an open-air cooler to minimise the use of resource-intensive air conditioning units. This environmental friendly technology not only promises increased efficiency, but also significant ecological benefits. Conventional air conditioning units often use fluoridated greenhouse gases (F-gases), which have a very high cooling capacity but are considered extremely harmful to the climate. The greenhouse gas effect of these gases is up to 23,000 times higher than the one of carbon dioxide. The principle of the open-air cooler is very simple - it utilises natural outdoor air for cooling, which drastically reduces energy consumption and therefore contributes to lower CO² emissions. Lower energy consumption also conserves natural resources and leads to considerable cost savings. These savings can then be reinvested in further sustainable innovations. The introduction of open-air coolers is just a small part of our comprehensive sustainability strategy. Progress is being made on Germany's most famous construction site 'Stuttgart 21'. The shell of the underground through station is now complete, with planners using our HEICO-LOCK® Combi Washers to secure the bolts of the gratings between the railway tracks. These effectively prevent self-loosening, even in the event of strong shocks or vibrations caused by arriving and departing trains. Our HEICO-FORM Cold Forged Parts are mainly used in the automotive industry - such as our ball pins. These can be produced with different part geometries that are used for riveting, welding or alternatively for screwing. This group of parts can be machined or even ready finished with segment tools on our multi-stage presses.
