At European Microwave Week (EuMW), 22-27 September in Paris, as well as exhibiting on booth 147C alongside printed electronics specialist Nano Dimension, we are pleased to announce that we will be presenting a paper on Wednesday 25th September 09.30 – 09.50 entitled “A D-band Horn Antenna Made by a Proprietary Metallization Process on Photopolymer 3D-Prints”. The paper demonstrates the effectiveness of our HMT-Metal coating process for 3D printed high-frequency D-Band horn antennas. Using micro-AM technology, combined with our conformal copper coatings, enables precise, small-scale components with micron tolerances, crucial for industrial and communication applications requiring high frequencies, high bandwidths and low latencies. The paper discusses how testing showed our 3D-printed antenna matched or exceeded the performance of traditional antennas, especially in gain and return loss, while being significantly lighter and more compact, highlighting the potential of dedicated AM-based designs for future innovations. Below is a small teaser. We look forward to seeing you at EuMW, and hope that you can come along to hear us present. #EuMW2024 #mmwave #hornantenna #dband #microAM #horizonmicrotechnologies #paper

It’s official! We have completed a move to new larger and well-equipped premises at Silberstreifen 4, 76287 Rheinstetten, Germany, which used to be the headquarters of Bruker. The almost 200 m2 area that we now occupy used to be Bruker’s demo and application center, and therefore includes a proper chemistry environment which will help boost our materials and process development. Importantly, the premises also has high level climate control allowing us to control temperature and air humidity. Almost half the floorspace of the new site is dedicated to Horizon’s production and technology development — focused on 3D micro printing, our proprietary coating technologies, and associated metrology requirements. We also have ample room to expand in the new premises, giving us room to accommodate the planned personnel and infrastructure expansion as we continue to grow. We look forward to hosting you in Rheinstetten. We are vertically integrated, and have now enhanced our in-house infrastructure to act as an end-to-end product development and contract manufacturing partner.   #horizonmicrotechnologies #microAM

Horizon Microtechnologies will be a prominent contributor to the upcoming European Microwave Week, 22-27 September in Paris, exhibiting and also presenting a paper on the production of a D-band horn antenna made by applying our proprietary metallisation coating to a photopolymer micro-AM part. By visiting us on booth 147C (shared with leading micro additive manufacturing [micro-AM] and additively manufactured electronics [AME] innovator Nano Dimension), event attendees will see our lightweight 3D printed mm-wave components, which provide an attractive alternative to traditionally fabricated metal mm-wave parts.    One key to our success is that we add functionality to micro-AM produced plastic parts. Micro-AM stimulates design freedom and innovation in mm-wave component manufacture, and as the core material is plastic, we promote the lightweighting of parts while at the same time — through the use of our HMT-Metal or HMT Conductive coatings — providing material functionality which matches parts made entirely from metal.    We use an SLA micro-AM process which builds parts in resin which areas smooth as CNC machined parts, in contrast to parts made via micro-metal AM processes or micro-SLS AM processes. For mm-wave components, low surface roughness is vital, and as our coating processes do not introduce additional surface roughness, the mm-wave components we produce exhibit low back scattering or reflection losses, approaching the theoretical limits.    Come and see us on booth 147C and we will show you a cost-effective, design optimized, small footprint, lightweight alternative to your current production processes for passive mm-wave parts and components.    #EuMW24 #mmwave #microAM #antenna #waveguide  #horizonmicrotechnologies

Our CEO Andreas Frölich will be contributing to the upcoming Techblick Event “The Future of Electronics RESHAPED” in Berlin October 23-24th 2024. This cutting-edge event attracts the global community from innovators and material suppliers to equipment makers, manufacturers and end users who will reshape the future of electronics.    Andreas will be presenting a paper entitled “Hybrid microfabrication by 3D printing and subsequent coating for electronics and radio-frequency applications.” To enhance the functionality of polymer microstructures and their application in radio-frequency devices and electronics, the talk will present a process portfolio for depositing thin (<10 µm), conformal, electrically conductive, protective and metallic films on three-dimensional polymer substrates made by micro-AM processes. Combining micro AM-derived parts with Horizon’s coating technologies that are able to conformally coat 3D substrates is an efficient approach to overcome the lack of functionalities of bare polymer parts. It brings together the benefits of photo-polymer based 3D printing such as precision, repeatability and relatively simple processing with the functionalities which the respective coatings can achieve. Register today, and be part of the future of electronic component innovation today. https://lnkd.in/ggAxu89D   #microAM #horizonmicrotechnologies #RFapplications #AME #PrintedElectronics

Horizon Microtechnologies is pleased to announce that it will be giving a webinar on the J.A.M.E.S platform on the 31st July 17.00 – 18.00 CEST https://lnkd.in/eiez3RRr. The webinar will be looking at how next generation waveguide-based RF (Radio Frequency) components can be produced via the use of micro-3D printing and the company’s proprietary metal coating, HMT-Metal (with which copper layers can be applied very evenly and conformally to a variety of component shapes and materials). In the webinar, using various case study examples, we will be detailing how micro-AM produced plastic parts coated with our Horizon-HMT copper coating can disrupt the waveguide-based RF components sector. Using plastic micro-AM to make such components presents several key advantages, addressing many of the manufacturability challenges encountered by traditional production methods. One of the primary benefits is the ability to achieve high precision and intricate geometries that are difficult or impossible to create with conventional machining. Micro-AM processes can produce complex internal features, such as lamellas, with the required precision and consistency, ensuring optimal performance of the RF components. This precision is particularly crucial at high frequencies, such as D-Band, where even small deviations can significantly impact the component's functionality. Please join us for this FREE event, and we look forward to presenting to you. #waveguides #RFcomponents #horizonmicrotechnologies
