It's about our Italian subsidiary and the success story that the team led by Managing Directors Horst Schnarf and Davide Nascimbene is writing. Especially in the last couple of years, our Italian subsidiary HUBER Technology Italia has been the protagonist of an extraordinary expansion and written their success story: "The foundation of the Italian branch dates back to 1998, when I decided to bet on the potential of HUBER Machinery in Italy," says Horst Schnarf, partner and founder of our Italian branch. "In its first twenty years, the company developed gradually and it's been two decades of experimentation and patient penetration of the Italian market." "The strong support of the parent company, which firmly believed in the enormous potential of the Italian market, was decisive and also allowed us to purchase a new site in Rivanazzano Terme, which will house both the production department and the new offices," explains Davide Nascimbene, General Manager. "In addition, from 2019 onward, we have been awarded a number of major tenders, including, in 2022, Abbanoa's tender for 20 screw presses, which is the largest order of HUBER Screw Presses Q-PRESS®, while in 2023 we were awarded two lots of the tender called by Acquedotto Pugliese." A contract amounting to more than 17 million euros for the construction of 38 mechanical sludge dewatering plants! 2023 – The year when our subsidiary celebrated their 25th company anniversary indeed was a successful one – and their story goes on. May we present: The HUBER Bee Project 🌿🐝 With the support of the HUBER Technology Foundation, we have launched an exciting "Bee Project". Thanks to the financial support of our very own Foundation, we were able to purchase a bee house and the necessary equipment for our HUBER beekeepers. We want to draw attention to the importance of bees for our ecosystems and raise awareness of this issue. According to the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, 80% of the 800 crops and wild plants in Germany depend on honey bees as pollinators, and around 85% of agricultural yields in plant and fruit cultivation in Germany depend on pollination. Under the leadership of Dominick and Tobias, our dedicated beekeeping team Tonia, Jens and Ilka look after our bees. Under the motto: "Meet the Queen", they regularly invite colleagues to guided tours where they can experience the fascinating world of bees and the central role of the queen bee up close. HUBER Micro Screening and Filtration Technology in Drinking Water Solutions 🚰🌊 The HUBER technology for advanced wastewater treatment, including the HUBER Disc Filter RoDisc® and the HUBER Sandfilter CONTIFLOW®, can also be applied to drinking water treatment solutions. In surface waters, the typical application is pre-screening in the inlet of waterworks to separate phytoplankton and zooplankton. This results in a significant reduction in mussel deposits in pipes and a reduction in the pollution load for the downstream process stages. When extracting spring and bank filtrate water, micro screening / filtration is used to separate silt to protect the downstream pipelines and fittings. Successful Shipping of a Containerized Rental Plant: HUBER Dissolved Air Flotation Plant HDF S8 🌊 Two 40 ft containers of our HUBER Dissolved Air Flotation Plant HDF S8 have just left our production site in Berching. One container with the flotation plant itself, the other with the peripheral equipment. The plant is going to a fish processing plant in Norway. Commissioning will be carried out in September together with our subsidiary HUBER Nordics. The customer has built a new plant and has to treat the wastewater when production starts. We will supply our HUBER Containerized Rental Plant as a temporary solution. The project planning for a permanent installation will then be started. Case Study #Throwback: Major Upgrade of Inlet Works at Belfast Wastewater Treatment Works (Northern Ireland) 🌊 Today we would like to take you on a trip down memory lane: This throwback to a nice case study takes us to the Northern Irish capital Belfast. A few years ago, our subsidiary HUBER Technology UK & Ireland completed a major £1.2 million project there. Works commenced on site in July 2013 and were successfully handed over officially to Northern Ireland Water in May 2014. Our customers and project partners were pleased with the "very high standard of our product quality, workmanship and co-operation", as well as the "excellent reliability" of our equipment. Wastewater-Energy-Transfer with HUBER Heat Exchangers RoWin: Reduction of Discharge Temperatures of Wastewater Treatment Plants and Utilization Concepts of Excess Heat 🔥❄ An industrial customer from North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) with their own wastewater treatment plant (direct discharge) has now opted for an innovative solution: the wastewater with excess heat had previously been discharged into a stretch of water. From now on, 2 HUBER Heat Exchangers RoWin units (size BG14) extract the energy from the wastewater and cool it down by approx. 3-5 °C. 🆕 Case Study: Lower Bavaria, Germany – HUBER Complete Plant, Sludge Dewatering, and ThermWin for Energy Recovery from Wastewater ✔ A nice project in our home market Germany: The market town of Metten and the municipality of Offenberg in Lower Bavaria jointly operate a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 10,000 population equivalents. The plant, which was built in the 1970s, is no longer state of the art and is being modernized accordingly. For the renewal of the wastewater treatment plant we have supplied our proven HUBER technology – from the complete plant with screen, grit and grease trap, to sludge treatment, and energy recovery from wastewater. Successful Loading and Installation of a Containerized Rental Machine: HUBER Drum Screen RoMesh® ✔️ Did you know that HUBER machine technology is also available for rent and in mobile container solutions? Just recently, we loaded a mobile containerized plant of our HUBER Drum Screen RoMesh® and installed it at the customer's site. The HUBER Drum Screen RoMesh® is an ultra-fine rotary drum screen with two-dimensional effect for very fine particulate material, like the separation of hair, fibres and fine suspended material from municipal and industrial wastewaters. 40 Million Euro Order: 5 HUBER Belt Dryers BT for the Thermal Treatment of over 120,000 Tonnes of Sewage Sludge per Year We are thrilled to announce a major project with a total order volume of over 40 million euros: HUBER SE will supply a total of five HUBER Belt Dryers BT to the Belgian company Aquafin for the two sites in Roeselare and Beringen. The plants for drying and thermal utilisation of sewage sludge will treat a minimum capacity of 32,500 tonnes of dry substance or 120,446 tonnes of original substance with a dry residue (DR) content of 27% per year. In addition to the HUBER Belt Dryers, the scope of supply includes the entire wet sludge logistics, cooling water supply, exhaust air treatment for the dryer and bunker exhaust air as well as the treatment and storage of the dry sludge. The project is carried out by a team of three companies: STADSBADER NV Group (Contractor, STADSBADER CONTRACTORS BV), HUBER SE as technology partner for sludge drying, and Sweco (engineering and study). For the end customer Aquafin, this combines the strengths of a healthy construction company, a specialised technology partner in drying technology and an experienced engineering company with specific experience in the fields of hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, hydrology and (geo)stability. This collaboration guarantees high-quality project execution thanks to local roots on the one hand and process and technical expertise on the other. After submitting the approval documents at the end of 2023, the environmental permit for the Beringen site was granted after just over six months. The permit for the plant in Roeselare is also expected this year.
