What do a Nobel laureate, a former NASA astronaut and hubergroup have in common? We all had a good time in Warsaw last week. 🏆🧑🚀 hubergroup was an official partner of the 3rd International Conference on Unconventional Catalysis, Reactors and Applications (UCRA3), which was organised by the Warsaw University of Technology - and we had a really exciting time full of highlights. Speakers included Prof Frances H. Arnold, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2018, and former NASA astronaut and professor in the Astronautics Department at MIT, Jeffrey A. Hoffman. The conference addressed new trends in catalysis that go beyond traditional catalyst applications in industrial reactors and extend into new areas such as health, personal care, climate and energy. This also opens up new application possibilities for printing inks and varnishes. Another special moment for us was the award ceremony for the best oral presentation of the conference. Adam Dudała, Managing Director of hubergroup Polska, presented Arnav Mittal from the University of Delaware with the prestigious prize. Last week we invited you to join us, today we would like to summarise our experience. 👀 Let's take a look at how the ZLV Packaging Symposium went! 📦 From September 12 – 13, hubergroup experts presented our wide product portfolio of printing inks and coatings at the Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften Kempten. With insightful customer questions, exciting stands and products from other exhibitors as well as many familiar faces, the symposium was a complete success for our team on site. In dialogue with our customers, the main focus was on finding out, what aspects are important to them in our current products: "Aside from sustainability and costs, good service and an appealing product performance play a major role," says Raphael Blenk, Sales Representative for Southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. 🗣️ He adds: "We are delighted that the event was well attended and we saw a lot of interest in the new guidelines in the printing ink regulation as well as in our solutions and in us as a company." Our new warehouse management system in Lisle, USA, is already a superstar – or should we say SAPerstar? 🌟🇺🇲 Let's take a step back: hubergroup USA is moving from Arlington Heights to a new building in Lisle. As there is more space and new shelving, our local team took the opportunity to introduce SAP Warehouse Management. And we're glad to say that the move went smoothly and the system has been in operation since September 3. What does this mean? ➡️ Increased speed: We have better control over our stocks by knowing the exact location of each pallet. ➡️ Higher batch traceability: We now get an additional confirmation by matching the physical location of raw materials before staging them for production. ➡️ Enhanced accuracy: We assign batch numbers to customer deliveries as we pick. This also reduces administrative effort. To sum it up: We have moved one step higher in terms of the quality of our internal operations, which of course also has a positive effect on our customers. 💪 Many thanks to Sanjiv Kulkarni, Richard Workman and Patrick Sidak from Supply Chain and Warehouse, Amit Purohit (USA IT) and Shriram Badgujar (India IT) as well as Boran Kilicarslan, Teamlead IT Business Applications SAP. The prior SAP warehouse management implementation and functional experience of the hubergroup US team helped the project to get accomplished quicker and smoother with a great support from Boran. Of course, we are planning to further improve our warehouse management system. Because every drop counts! 💧 We know that water is one of the most valuable natural resources in the world – and that water consumption therefore plays a key role in sustainable production. With our water treatment plant at our site in India, we are making our production as sustainable as possible. In our Multi Effect Evaporator (MEE) the water is treated through various filter and purification processes. If you had to assign one colour to hubergroup, it would be blue, right? 🔵 Looking back to when our company name was still MHM, standing for Michael Huber München, one colour stood out in particular: yellow. This colour was omnipresent both in the logo and on company equipment. As our company further developed, the name and core colour of hubergroup also changed. Over the years, we established ourselves as a printing ink specialist, branched out internationally and expanded our product portfolio – right up to the funding of our own Chemicals Division in 2020.
